I'm glad he's out of the team, he's shit and fat.

Ha ha, almost inhaled coffee laughing at that.

Ok

Percy from the Daily Telegraph said
"John McGinn replaced Mings as captain, but has at times seemed inhibited by the role. Gerrard had planned to drop the Scotland international for the visit of Chelsea on the Friday before the game, but changed his mind and named McGinn in his starting line-up."

I'm assuming you'd read this, which i noticed yesterday. Whether that's Percy's opinion or whether someone has told him something from the inside i'm not sure. I don't think you can gauge too much from performances, he's been similar to last season and the end of the one before, i.e. good sometimes, average a lot of the time and occasionally crap. I think like Watkins he needs a little break so i'll be glad to see him out of the team for a couple of matches or maybe more, no reason why Sanson or Nakamba couldn't get a few matches to show whether they're up to it. Same with Archer for Watkins.

John McGinn is having a tough time at the moment, something that he has acknowledged himself.

However he has been great for us for the most part since he joined us and has credit in the bank for sure.

He could do with a spell out of the first XI but we need to stick by him.

There are people in this team way more worthy of criticism than John McGinn.

Luiz, Ings. At least McGinn looks like he gives a damn.

Oh, and Leon Bailey. I wanted to put my foot through the telly watching Bailey's utterly uninterested 'performance' at Fulham.

Disgusting.

I don't dislike any of our players, I don't think any of them are taking the piss. Ings runs his bollocks off, they all look like they're trying. It's just been a shambolic mess under Gerrard.

Luiz has been probably our best player this season

He needs a few games out and the arm band taken off him. If he can’t handle that then move him on.

I've not seen any sugeesting of him not handling it. Why wouldn't he?

Hence the if.

I dont understand the point in creating possible scenarios for a player who hasn't given us a minute of trouble. Players get dropped all the time. He's hardly going to do a Ronaldo.

I agree, there's nothing in his conduct I can criticise him for.  He really does need to be taken out of the firing line and needs to be relieved of the captaincy but I'm not saying anything that hasn't already been said.  I hope he can recharge the batteries so to speak and regain a bit of form.

Yep. Luiz and Young.

Luiz? I genuinely don't understand what he does.

Is he a defensive midfielder? An attacking one?

The midfield is routinely cited as our biggest problem and he's a mainstay in that midfield.

Maybe I am missing something but I rarely think that Luiz has stood out in a game.

Won the ball. Kept the ball. Where we are at the moment that makes him our best player.

I think that’s the issue with Doug, what is he?For me he’s a traditional midfielder who does a bit of everything or an 8 but mostly in all his time in the team he’s been asked to play as the only defensive midfielder, he’s had decent games there but not his speciality.
McGinn has also been asked to play an unnatural game, either too deep or as some auxiliary full back, particularly this season.
