I thought he was pretty good tonight.  Still playing through a bad run of form, but it was a captains performance that was epitomised with that tackle at the end.

I agree. Thought he was decent tonight. Great last ditch tackle at the end which has saved this site from going into total and complete meltdown.

Gave the ball away still, but felt he did well with their rugby league tactics.

He was busy.  Nothing special and is one of the one's we need to replace if wee are to move forward.  As is Luiz.  Better today though.

Best game of the season. There was a lot of talk before the game about how good the Leeds midfield duo were. McGinn and Luiz utterly dominated them. Still would prefer him further up the pitch.

He had decent spells today but for the first half hour he was trying to force play and just gave away possession almost constantly and then in the 2nd half he had a long spell of having absolutely no impact on the game when they were down to 10 men. The game saving tackle at the end and his constant niggling of them made it look like he was a lot more productive but it's another game where his pass success is far too low for a centre mid. Giving the ball away as often as he does is just about acceptable if you're a 10 who's playing sliderule passes into the box but not for where we play him.

He was better today. It was a good run for Bailey’s cross, if Ollie had just got out of the way he might well have scored.

I think it was behind him anyway so it'd have been a very difficult chance. As seems to be the case with everything McGinn does right now he was guilty of rushing in when he needed to take a second and think. Irrelevant anyway because Watkins took the ball instead but it was a good example of where McGinn needs to drag himself down and show a bit more composure.

What a useless fat knacker he is. Abysmal passing as per usual, and sod all else useful. Why is he still getting a game? Got nearly as much abuse as Gerrard and was booed off when subbed.

He’s just completely gone. Don’t know why, but it’s cruel picking him.

Diabolical comment. He scored the playoff winning goal and is a Villa hero for that alone, certainly no knacker anyway.

That was three and a half years ago. Did you see his abysmal attempt at a diving header in front of an open goal. Useless.

Risso is quite right in my books. Maybe not the way i would put it, but McGinn is a dinosaur. Specialising in yellow cards.
McGinn is merely a spirited so-and-so who any half decent European coach would not have in his team due to the scottish meatballs footballing deficiencies. A relic of a player.

Sanson is a technically superior player and an upgrade, and it is clear that Gerrard selects a captain based on basic qualities of British old school midfield play. And rewards it with captaincy. It's not right. But it's OK.

Risso explained it all in this post.
Shocking attempt to score by a very limited player.

You disappear for six weeks then come back and attack our captain? How dare you.
