He was in Dubai with "our" Jack, enjoying himself. No excuse.

McGinn is good enough. He’s just knackered. Gets picked every week without ever really being rested.

They just had 3 weeks off.

You keep saying this. But it's not accurate is it? He played against Molde and Brentford and Gerrard said that training was designed to replicate the intensity of a match.

Two weeks then, whatever. He's played 26 games this season, players for teams in Europe like Henderson at Liverpool or Fernandes at Man U have played at least 10-12 more than that.

And if he is tired, well he won't mind a few games rest then, which his recent displays have more than merited.

Yeah, you're right, there are no other factors at play here, everyone we have is just shit.

There's always someone who's shit, either the players or the manager. No need for excuses, or reasons, we're Aston Villa, we should be the best and if not, we're just shit.

From what I’ve read here, you’re dead right: the players are shit, the management and coaching staff are shit, it‘s shit getting to and from the ground, getting served at half time is shit, the P.A. is shit, the North Stand is shit, the new Trinity is shit, as is the Witton Road stand.

I’m clinging to the thought that the Holte End isn’t shit.

I heard an interview with Gerrard where he said that he had given Mings and McGinn some extra time over that recent break compared to the others, in view of their international commitments. Also, they had an enforced break of over 2 weeks around Christmas time (although I don't know who contracted Covid). Amyway, even allowing for internationals, no Villa player has played a huge amount of games so far this season.

You cling on to the one negative view I've had.. I didn't want him, no, but have I been derogatory about him since? Do I keep going on about how shit he is if we have a poor performance? No, he deserves a chance and he won't get everything right.

McGinn is a bloody brilliant player who is being played out of his best position. That doesn't make him shit, worth selling etc.
