Back in full training by the looks of it. Nope, correction, not in full contact yet.

They need to make sure the rest of the squad are ready first.

John Percy saying that he's looking at Newcastle on 21st March for his return. I'd copy it here but it's behind their paywall.

Game cancelled so Wolves it is.

Fancy him to get the winner v Man. United in the run in.

I know "it's the hope that always kills ya", but, genuine question:

Is the return of McGinn really going to get us out of the mire?

Nobody can know for definite, but we've been desperate for energy, drive and goal-threat in his absence. Like Grealish and Mings, he's become fundamental to our play. Him just being on the pitch will make a big difference to us.

Well, if you whitewash his last 9 or 10 pre-injury performances (which were mostly dire) and conveniently act like he wasn't playing when we lost to 10-man Arsenal, as well as factoring in a little extra delusional logic that he's somehow going to be a completely different player after a long absence out, then yes, he's going to save us.

If Smith deploys him the same way, then no, he is not going to save us.
He will add some energy to the midfield for sure but that is not enough.
To have him available off the bench will be a boost.

Another way to look at it:

A fit again McGinn means no Drinkwater.

Not carrying that doofus must boost our survival hopes exponentially.

I think he will play Drinkwater unless he has Gironde back on the piss.

I think we've still got enough to get out of it. Relies on McGinn being fit and Mings, Grealish and Samatta staying fit mind.

McGinn is an excellent player. Due to his style, he appears to suffer a bit of burn out. He is generally always excellent, but for a time limited period. By December he was fading out early in games and his contribution decreasing. He needed a spell out the side, although sadly not like this.

He came back and had a huge impact from his brief absence last season. Had an impact at the Sty, brilliant at Forest and on from there.

He seems to be straining at his lead to get back to it. It may take a bit of time to get back to the pace for 90 minutes, but there's no question that his return will improve us.

No individual is going to save us, it's a collective effort. A work rate like Sunday, a belief in adversity not to become brittle, defend solidly and protect the goal to a handful of chances even against the very best. A player as good as McGinn will only help.

Only the most dour and po faced assessment of his return would deny the benefits of McGinn (who?) Super John McGinn and his passing, running and Gareth Barry backsides likely impact on us.

He’s also got the personality to demand the ball and affect the games whereas most the other look to pass the ball and burden on to Grealish.

For most of the season I actually think he's been asked to do too much.

If yo remember at the start when he was playing well we had one of Luiz/Nakamba as the DM, McGinn as box to box, Jack as number 10 and also played two wide players.

Left far too much ground to cover. I'd be interested to see how he goes playing ahead of two central midfielders.
