He may not score as many goals as Connor but we look a far better balanced team with him in midfield.

He doesn't pass back as much as Connor
They don't have to wonder where he is
He can tackle and press far better

I like this upgrade !

First live viewing, pretty impressed.

A real tigerish presence in midfield and good quality on the ball.

Way he's been so far is what I thought we were getting when we signed Hourihane.

Fancy him to score on Saturday.

My second viewing of him and he understandably looked a bit. sharper than he did against Wigan.  Thought he tired a bit towards the end, but had a good game and his set pieces are a real threat.

He’s excellent, glad he wasn’t injured by that scumbag.

Tonight's ref was diabolical. I could see that stamp on the half way line from the Holte End but that prick Moss couldn't see it from 20 yards away.

Lino missed it as well from about 15 yards away

Dean Smith seems to be defending it...

Quote from: Dean Smith
If you remember the incident, Mile Jedinak fell over, got up and then smashed Neal in the back of the head so, if they are looking at retrospective for Neal, then we'll do so for Jedinak.

Prick.

Fair play to Smith. He's obviously a Villa supporter, trying to get Jedinak suspended.

I wonder if that game and Smith's defence of the indefensible marks the point at which Smith ceased to be a contender for the Villa job.  Defending his own player can be seen as loyalty.  Attacking a Villa player tit for tat smacks of narkiness, a side of Smith not widely known.  Did not do his career prospects much good I suspect.

You could be right Brian. Not sure the niggly nasty side of their approach will have done much either.

I don't think he'll ever manage us, not unless he goes somewhere bigger than Brentford on the way.

The only questions I have is how did we get him for a such cheap price and why were no other English teams in for him.

Into the last year of his contract....an absolute steal for us!

Dean Smith is employed by Brentford, to manage the interests of Brentford. He'll do that by all legal means necessary, and if doing so means having a go back at an opposition players, so be it. We regularly bemoan the fact that the Villa are too nice in certain matters, and I don't imagine for one second that when we're looking for a new manager the fact that he had a go at one of our players will count against him any more that Steve Bruce dancing on the pitch when his collection of rogues, vagabonds and ne'erdowells salvaged a point against us counted against him.

I was best man at a wedding in the Highlands two weeks ago...north of Inverness!! The football followers of every stripe were saying what a steal he is. Many liked him enough to start following what he does at Villa.

Most importantly, the Celtic fans were pleased they lost out on him...think about that. They were pleased because a) he's an excellent Scottish prospect who deserves better than sitting on Celtic's bench
and b) it highlights their club's shitty transfer dealings trying to get the best youngsters on the cheap which leads to a) again.

He also knew we're shit against 10 men.
