My son was an away mascot a few years ago and walked out with John McGinn. A few months previously we’d been to the junior Christmas party and lined up with hundreds of other kids to meet SJM (and Leon Bailey). McGinn was an absolute gentleman as you’d imagine. Anyway skip forward a few months and the first thing my son asks Meatball as they walk out on the pitch is ‘do you remember me from the Christmas Party’. Without skipping a beat he replies that, of he course he remembers him, did he enjoy the party, how’s he doing etc Just a little thing but my lad was absolutely made up that McGinn remembered him - when I strongly suspect he didn’t recognise him from Adam.
Apart from his brilliance as a footballer, I love the way he treats his mascots!
Jack still saying the play off final was the best day of his life.
