I'd go the opposite and say if we do move it needs to be as near the city centre as possible. This is for mostly practical reasons of access to public transport, as there won't be many locations as good as the current one for transport links.
If it was close to the city, then the catering would need to be a decent level - Spurs seem to do it well.
The best idea for us would be to aim as close as possible to HS2 Curzon Street. Not because of the station itself but because of the investment in the area and it's infrastructure that will come with it. Get in there pretty soon and I reckon we'd have a decent chance of getting a tram link, especially if we went down the 'more than just a football ground' route.
We could use Wembley like Spuds did.
The boat has been missed as far as a city centre stadium is concerned. It is pretty certain we are moving, the new investment partners is another clue.i am sure it will be in the midlands though.

There’s a shitload of industrial land which, whilst it’s not currently in the city centre, would be if you built a multipurpose stadium there, eg gun quarter or matalan island. Don’t get me wrong, my overwhelming preference would be to stay at a redeveloped Villa Park. But if we were to move there’s a compelling case for doing so in the city centre.
