McManus is good.

I like McManus, not slagging him off, but if we're talking, say, Ronnie v Selby, deciding frame in the World Championship final, I just find myself thinking 'what do you know about this?'

Hendry, however, has that kind of experience so I find him more insightful.

By your argument only Hendry could ever commentate on O'Sullivan matches. McManus is excellent, IMO, and the most celebrated commentator, Ted Lowe, never won anything. You don't have to have won as many trophies as O'Sullivan to work out which shot he might play. It's usually obvious for pots so they are needed more for safety and McManus was a great safety player.

McManus was known as 'Angles' because of his knowledge.

Hendy has talked of his admiration for McManus who could play shots he couldn't, and also talks of how even now he still learns stuff from other players, past and present, that he never knew.

Zhao looking a bit rattled out there. Is it pressure, expectation or The Curse? I know which my money is on.

Thoughts on Steven Hallworth as a commentator? I'm finding him a bit irritating. Firstly, he sounds exactly like one of the Radio 5 football correspondents (Simon Stone?), and secondly, he talks too much.

How he's gone from a bit part on the WST podcast to filling the void left by JV is baffling.  Still, could be worse, could be Rob Walker...

I hated him as a player but I like Hendry as a commentator for that very reason. He was truly an elite player and I find him interesting to listen to.

I iike Hendry as co-commentator too, and Ken Doherty (even if his colourful socks get on my nerves). Davis and Hendry could do with sorting out their wardrobes as well.

Anyway, my preferred quartet for the semi-finals would be Murphy, Higgins, Allen, and Vafaei. Unlikely to happen though.

Set up for a good day two of the quarter-finals with all four matches close. Often the best day of the Championship, IMO.

I would offer an opinion, but I'm worried you'll jump down my throat like with the commentator thing...
