The first goal was excellent football.
Burton played pretty decently, and at least tried to move it around at pace on the floor. We seemed a bit slow at times, but when we knock it around, and Grealish gets on the ball, we can be enjoyable to watch. Adomah needed replacing, though got his goal, so well done to him. Teams are not just going to roll over and die when they come to Villa Park, and today we've had to grind out a good win, which all the best teams have to do at times. For all their great football, Man City have, more than once this season, had to grind out 2-1 and 1-0 victories. Some of which came in the last few minutes of stoppage time. It's a another win, and although cliche, it becomes a habit. And a damn good one. Their fans may be getting carried away by their recent upturn in form, but Blues will be well aware that they're coming to play a team on a 6 game winning run, and full of confidence.I had a feeling watching today's game, that we didn't really get out of first gear that often, and didn't really need to. I think our players have confidence in the knowledge that we are a decent team and are damn hard to beat now.Long may it continue.

Another good one was Hendrie at Chelsea in 1997...
Albert scored one and made one - and yet people are unhappy with his performance? Blimey.

Literally just got back in cos trains heading south from New Street were either cancelled or delayed today. First ten mins i thought we were a bit dozy and Burton looked lively. Once we got going - and i think some of the midfield play and interchanging from Snodgrass and Grealish in particular was very good - we were comfortable. At 2-0 we were cruising until the ref didnt give us a penalty when Grealish brought down, Burton went right up the other end and scored. Once Jack got the third - great volley - i thought Burton were lucky to grab their second, the ball deflected to their striker who couldnt miss. The game reminded me of Norwich earlier in the year, we were well on top but let in two daft goals to make it look a closer game than it was. The ref was shocking. Crowd was quite quiet at times but in good voice when we scored or let the ref know what we thought of him. Burton's support was pathetic. As for individuals, Grealish was excellent, Hogan was Dean Saunders-ish the way he chased everything, he worked his nuts off. Bjarnson had a mixed game, goal saving challenge early on but a couple of other times he was sloppy. Johnstone really didnt have anything to do other than pick the ball out of his net twice, Hutton was excellent and we've won another game so why there were so many unhappy Villa fans on the Witton-New Street train after the game i do not know.

Six wins on the bounce is great but for me we're still too often unconvincing, somewhat negative or at least over cautious, and having to grind it out or hang on at the end. Against the bottom team at home, that shouldn't really be happening. I suppose we should focus on the positives but I just wish Bruce would let them go for it a bit more. My fear is that if he doesn't, our luck could run out. I don't expect much attacking intent next week.

Watching the Sky highlights again I think perhaps we're all a little harsh. There was plenty of confounding and sloppy play, but we always looked like winning, created a host of chances and having a front 5 really has seen our football improve. Our movement and passing in the final third is so much faster. Compare it to last year where we bludgeoned our way to victory.
