Those that are of a nervous disposition and are worried about the Birmingham game (!) should watch their highlights against Sheffield Wednesday. If you think that we were in a kind mood yesterday, it is nothing compared to the shambles that Birmingham City had as opposition. Diabolical.

Not the best performance by Villa. To echo what others have said though, whilst this should have been a lot easier, teams do have good days (Clough said it was as good as they've performed this season) and bad days (the worst we've played during our run of six?) . It's good that whilst these two coincided yesterday, three points was still the end result.

Comfortably the dullest 3-2 win I've ever been to. Bloody freezing, and barely any excitement or noise to warm the cockles.

Only thing of real note was that the pitch looked a heck of a lot better than it did against Barnsley. The UV lights seem to have taken effect pretty well.

Apart from a hairy ending that was entirely of our own making, from kickoff I never doubted the win. Burton pressed early, but they lack sufficient quality to punish us. We still deservedly won without being anywhere close to our recent best, and that's a situation that's long overdue.

When we "play", we're really quite good, very entertaining, and productive. When we're a tad less cultured, we're none of those things. A little more flair on the bench could've seen us chip away at Derby's GD rather than falling further behind.

Three points in the bag, promotion still in our own hands, so all good. Onwards and upwards!

having a front 5 really has seen our football improve

When I think back to earlier this season and beyond. This is what’s it’s all about. Attacking options, so much better than having one man and one plan which we seemed to have had for ever.

Even though overall the performance was below our best we created enough chances for a more convincing win. At the moment Grealish is playing in a way where every time he gets the ball you think something is going to happen.

A win. By the skin of our teeth. We are still only 3rd which is not good enough. Can we all stop wanking over 6 wins and work on sealing that 2nd spot. We are only third because we were shit for two whole months! A long way to go yet. Second or nothing.

We are now only third and challenging for second place largely due to those 6 consecutive victories.

To be in our best winning run since Jesus was a lad and still be complaining about a bad few months is a tad ridiculous. Yes it happened and wasn't ideal, but we're on the crest of a wave right now and that person wants to talk about the negatives? Blimey.

Albert scored one and made one - and yet people are unhappy with his performance? Blimey.
Ermmm...he was er too slow getting off the pitch when substituted. Leave him out against Blues that will teach him.

I wanted to see that penalty claim again but channel 5 didn't show it. Looked blatant on first viewing.

Think it would have been a more impressive score line if the referee had given that penalty, which probably would have made it 3-0 to us.

Burton definitely deserved to score though, played fairly good attacking football as usual.

Wasn't obvious from the highlights but was Hutton at fault for their second for not stepping out to play offside ?

Cold day at Villa Park but 3 points in the bag, I had the feeling if Burton scored 4 we could have got 5, made hard work of getting 3 points, but come the end of the season only thing that will matter is the points total.
Bring on the scum.

Nice one 👍 couldn't make the game yesterday that's the first I've seen of it. Couple of things to mention. Our first goal was quality. Elmos og- wtf was that? Grealish's finish was fantastic. Their second goal? Where the fk was our defence? Schoolboy stuff. All in all it looked great at times and shambolic at other times but in the grand scheme of things 3 vital points won an that's the main thing.

Anyone got highlights that include Jack's supposed dive? I was sure it was a penalty.
