Heavy rain atm although think it will clear up by mid afternoon. Reminds me of the Bolton home game years back when you needed an ark to get to the ground for the opening day.

How about 'Fanzine ends after editor wins Euromillions'?

I represent a senior member of the Nigerian Royal Family, Mr Woodhall, and because of political unrest and fears for their safety my contact wishes to move some of his considerable assets to a 'safe haven'. For a substantial consideration he requires to move a sum of £30m to the UK quickly via a British bank account which I am given to understand you have. Please send details and the combination of your Peppa Pig Piggy Bank to me by return.

Ha! Mr Woodhall has nothing on me. Two emails this morning - one saying I've won the Toronto postcode lottery which I'm so chuffed about.

The other was about erectile dysfunction. One of em has to be genuine....

This match feels like it will be more of an indicator for the season ahead than your usual opener, for some reason. Not sure if it's just the symbolic value of Hull (now there's a sentence), but I've got a sense that the result will be a harbinger. Probably won't be, but that's what it feels like.

Talk of torrential rain and thunder reminds me of not so long ago at pre bankruptcy Leicester - yes that Leicester - when the away support was made to stand in the section under the holes in the roof.  Long memory me.

City of Culture, Mont.  On Radio 3 all the time.  If you are looking for a harbinger, Hull is the place.

First game of the season- not really fussed about the result. I'd like a professional performance and a few Villa goals though.

The weather's pretty Larkinesque, as have the Villa been recently: 'A sense of falling, like an arrow-shower sent out of sight, somewhere becoming rain.' We're some sort of shower alright.

Just posted this in Tickets & Travel, but thought I might get better visibility here: I'm on an unplanned journey to Birmingham so if anyone needs to lose a spare ticket give me a shout (pm - my hearing's not great)!
