I'm with The Fish. We should never have brought up Ant and Dec. It's made them very angry indeed.

Maybe if you weren't so far up your own Everybody's Favourite Club/Bestest Supporters in the World arses nobody would have been all that bothered. Maybe if you didn't keep dragging it up, all this would have been long forgotten. Maybe.

Well, apart from the fact that your fellow Villa fans bring it up, your local papers bring it up and your twitter hardmen bring it up.

Apart from them, maybe it would have been forgotten. Maybe. ;)

p.s. that "everyone's 2nd favourite club" wasn't invented by us, or accepted by us, it was invented by Sky and seems to persist purely because it rankles with fans of clubs like Aston Villa. None of us much give a shit.

Of course you don't. And of course you don't bring it up. Possibly it's some other grudge you refer to earlier. Either way, if you don't care about us, why are you on here?
I said we didn't care about you. Now, because of one member of your fanbase's oddness the consensus on Tyneside has changed.

I signed up to this site to see your opinions on the Championship, on players, on fixtures, on Bruce, and so on. I would have signed up to Villatalk as well, but they're less welcoming.

One minute it's us keeping on about it, the next it's you. Either way, why not go somewhere else if you want to tell us what nasty people you are. I can think of a couple of clubs whose fans will love you.

I'm afraid you've not understood.

There are individuals on both sides that bring it up. I don't want to tell you what nasty people we are, as I don't think we're nasty people.

I do apologise - I should have said what nasty people we are. It's true, by the way. One lot of your new friends will call us arrogant, the others will say we live in Staffordshire. Both will welcome you with open arms.

Most message boards have been more than welcoming. Forest and Leeds less so, but the others have been dead canny.

The point Fish, is that during your relegation the media were still fawning over you, maybe not the fault of the fans clearly, but if you think the rest of the football world didn't laugh at you then then you're misguided. it's always funny when a big club goes down for other club's fans, especially other 'big' clubs so the comparison with Cardiff hardly sits.

Most Villa fans don't care about you either way. The banner taking the piss was funny whatever you think, and that we relegated you made even better. Not that Aston Villa really wanted to relegate their vicious rivals, but were the team that relegated a big club on that day, We've done it to Coventry too so don';t feel all that special. And to be honest we couldn't give a shite about Coventry as much as don't about you, it's just that like last year when you came to Villa Park your fans seem to care too much about what we do so will enjoy your failings.

Anyway, you won't need to worry about us next season so enjoy Monday and the rest of your season. We really won't care about you after Monday until you pipe up about banners again. Chill man.

Totally need to start playing 4-3-3 for me, and stick with it whatever the outcome. Nothing will improve until we have a system that players start to gel/feel comfortable in IMHO

------------- Johnstone ---------------
 --- Bree - Chester - Baker - Taylor ---
--- Lansbury - Jedinak - Hourihane ---
------- Kodjia - Hogan - Green -------

A solid back four with an emphasis on defending first and foremost

A strong middle three with Jedinak marshalling it just behind the other two

Width and pace from Green and Kodjia with Hogan as the striker

It's a common internet trope to claim the other party is angry, or riled, it's not really true. If you look at my original post in this thread, I gave a prediction and some background. Part of that is the undeniable truth that there remains some resentment towards the behaviour of some of your fans.

Check the replies, instead of replying to the prediction, to the return of Gayle, to anything else, those that have replied to it have focussed on the resentment. There've been claims Villa fans aren't bothered about it, yet there's been defence of the act (any club would have done it), criticism of the reaction and so on. Doesn't take a genius to see that the enmity exists on both sides, where once there was nothing.

Also doesn't help your claim that nobody care, when twitter has a fair number of Villa fans trying to goad Newcastle fans again.

No I agree in the main. But we don't care about Gayle as he doesn't play for us. Play him/ don't play him - irrelevant to us. As for your prediction - why do you want us to reply to that? Its a predictions thread and as you've noticed the vast majority think you'll win. No one has posted any enmity towards other posters thinking you'll win. You probably will because you're currently better than us, it's at home and we're on a terrible run.

Yes, there will be enmity from the tiny minority of Villa fans but for a multitude of reasons. You'll also find many more that probably like Newcastle. I find myself as one of them. I couldn't give a shit about the original banner and thought it was crap if truth be told. But by Christ you have whinged on about it. By constantly bringing it up whenever we play you are allowing the media to whip up something that isn't there.

We, the fans, as you do as do all other fans, will jump to defend the 'honour' of their club. As you have post- banner and as we will when you go on about it because you really want to beat us because of it.  But the point from our side of the fence is forget about it. It was a banner and hilarity from our side 8 years ago. If you lot just shrugged it off as typical football fan 'banter' and realised that you were fair game then, and were last season, then this would be parked where it belongs right at the back of the Asda car park with no-one noticing.

But no you can't. Its almost as if you think you should be above being laughed at by a club that just wanted to laugh at a big club going down. It just happened that the big club was you and the club relegating the big club was us.

Same as that, Peter W.

Wasn't one of our finest efforts.  The reaction to it -even now- is way OTT.  I find it hard to square that with my personal experience of meeting or working with Toon fans, who have been sound on the whole. Usually have similar gallows humour to ourselves, and tend to know a fair bit about other clubs. Always easy to talk football with.

The ones that seem determined to keep this going come across as precious wilting wallflowers. Doing themselves no favours, like.

Who is Gayle? Is it your mammy, you cry baby.

We're rubbish, we'll lose. Toon fans will laugh, we'll get over it.

I read the Guardian online (do-gooding Leftie that I am) and there's a ridiculous Geordie who rocks up on the Championship comments section on a weekly basis to have a pop at Villa. He goes by the name of Bob Helpful, and every single week he's on there having a pop at our attendances, our shit fans, our joke of a club, blah blah blah, even when we haven't played. Always mentions the banner too. This week he's absolutely seething with hatred, he cannot wait to put us in our place and hopes we go down because our relegation "will make fans across the land very happy". I don't think I've even seen such vitriol from our beloved local rivals, the man is obsessed.  It would be funny if it wasn't so pathetic. Just a thought but is it you, Mr Fish, or do you know him? I'm worried you/he might be heading for an ulcer.  I'm also worried about your/his wife/partner, whoever the poor sod is. Please heed/pass on my concerns.

We'll probably lose, but I'm sure we'll take it on the chin. I doubt we'll be blubbing about it in seven years time anyway.
