What pisses me off is when we're in the market for a new manager all these know-nothing pundits are all clamouring to tell us we should appointment a good, solid done it all British/Irish manager the like of we've had enough of, yet whenever a Chelsea, Arsenal, Manure etc job arises there's never a mention of appointing someone from the dinosaur lucky bag.  It really annoys me,

Most of the backlash about us sacking Nan's hair is just ignorance and lack of knowledge of our team.. They know Bruce's "promotion" record, they saw us get to the play-offs. beyond that they haven't a clue. Ask any ex-player or journalist whether a championship side should go into a season with 1 centre half in the entire squad and i'll bet you wouldn't have many of them saying yes, but most of them don't even realise that is what's happened. They were throwing pelters at maureen for playing a midfielder in defence yesterday - as least maureen has the options not to do that!

Having seen us play this year, I’m more and more convinced us getting vaguely close last year was down to Terry’s influence.
Most defiantly. One thing I thought Bruce got right last season was our team spirit and unity, however I do think your right and that was Terry’s influence, also Snoddy’s too.

The more I think about it, the more I think the lack of recognised central defenders was an act of sabotage by bruce. It's just breathtakingly negligent.
I've been saying the same.
He should have been sacked for that alone - criminal.

the reality is that he wanted Terry back at all costs. The owners wouldn't play ball so he was forced to try and bring in someone else and that failed too. The negligence was allowing other central defenders to leave on loan before both gambits failed.

Which is absolutely astonishing when you consider his self proclaimed years of experience and Championship expertise.  Either self sabotage because he wanted out but with a pay off or such a rookie error it becomes gross negligence.  I had no sympathy for him after that.

The Bruce problem was not a complex one.  He was a dullard who surrounded himself with dullards, his colleagues and his media connections.  By doing that his limitations were never properly exposed.  His appetite for spending his clubs' money to bring in random influxes of incorrectly evaluated players was enough to bump and grind teams to be, in his own words, there or thereabouts.  Eventually through laziness and over confidence in his own ability he even lost the ability to use his owners' money to buy performances that would deliver there or thereabouts.  That is the legacy of Steve Bruce.

Two years of profligate spending, players randomly bought, rented or disposed of, players binned off to Australia to achieve a pinnacle of fourth in the Championship and a play off of three games, two against Middlesborough and one against Fulham in which we never looked for one minute that we were going to achieve promotion.

His tenure as Aston Villa manager has been an object lesson in bungling, short sighted stupidity.  The only notable element of which was the number of people he convinced that it was ever acceptable.

A very good summary Brian.

I was hoodwinked into believing he had some kind of ability because of his “experience” and being a “promotion expert” but as time went on and we was entering another 7-10 game run of woes I did start to wonder.

How do you know the owners wouldn't play ball?

because manic he didn't arrive, they made no bones about putting the emphasis on younger players. Having said thast, how they were stupid  enough to sanction Bolasie is totally incomprehensible.

El Ghazi started two; a goal and an assist. Albeit he gave a free kick away that we then didn't defend.

Outragous these wingers with their goals and assists. No wonder they're not playing. Can't believe the board sanctioned it! Not when we have perfectly inadequate right backs and central midfielders we can shoehorn into wide positions.
