What a load of sanctimonious twaddle. It would be great if every person with a dependency problem took a calm and rational approach to their career and put the needs of a hypothetical future employer ahead of their own. But that’s missing the point a bit.

Just a bit.

Am I the only one who's uneasy with the abuse being levelled   McCormack here? If the bloke really is struggling with a drink problem which has resulted in (or is the result of) problems in his personal life, to the detriment of his marriage and career, then I'd hope he'd be afforded a bit more sympathy and compassion. Was Paul McGrath 'clearly an arsehole' as well?

I think most decent people would sympathise. However (assuming he has the problem you suggest)  he clearly had the problem when we signed him and covered it up to our financial detriment. Morally he should have stayed at Fulham and sorted himself out. He chose to take the big contract, the big signing on fee and cover up his illness. Basically bollocks to AVFC

I don't know what you base any of that on but it shows a huge misunderstanding of the nature of addiction. 'Covering up' is a classic sign of a dependency problem. The suggestion that an addict makes intentionally immoral and poor choices is ignorant and unfair.

And can I stress that I was careful to use the word 'if' in my initial post. I don't know how much truth there is in the rumours I've read on here, I hope there's none. I simply felt uncomfortable seeing a man being abused when it seemed there might be an explanation for his behaviour.

he's going to get Blackburn, Rotherham and Wednesday I think. Fuck up in any way and he's gone
Jedinak is a defensive midfielder not a centre back.Tuazebe IS a centre back not a right back. Elphick is also a centre back who has gone out on loan. Elmohamody is a midfielder not a right back. Bree is a decent right back who doesn't get a game. Steer who has also gone out on loan is a better goalkeeper than Nyland. That's why Steve Bruce should be sacked.

The McCormack signing didn't work but it could have done and I still think that there is a prolific goal scorer in Hogan somewhere. They aren't the reasons why Bruce should be sacked.

As I said before the season started he should be given until Christmas. The team looks better going forward than last year even if the defence is a car crash waiting to happen.

The problem is that the power vacuum created by the previous regime moving on has been filled by Bruce.
So the new CEO has got to deal with the politics of that situation.
Bruce and his mates are sitting smugly on pay us off contracts.
It’s a precarious position for Purslow and I doubt that he is likely to make any decision any time soon, unless of course the process of a new Manager was allready in play.

McCormack's problems are not only with the drink, be it that simple.

I'm royally pissed off that in his after match interview he was already lining up his excuses for the game in a fortnight... 'we've got 10 away on international duty which obviously doesn't help'...

Wanker who needs to bloody go. Now.

I thought now was a perfect time If I'm honest. Hopefully the new CEO is putting the feelers out at the moment

Enough is enough re Bruce, get him out before he f-cks up the club any further. All stability it is claimed he has achieved has gone. Even talk of a Terry return is the last desperate act of a manager who knows he f-cked up in the transfer window. Bruce out!

In magic circle parlance, Bruce is now using the ‘John Terry distraction technique’.

Now you see me, now you see me.

Bruce has created this mess with the defence. He didn't have to let Elphick leave. Everyone, from fans to pundits can see the stupidity of that decision. For that alone, he should resign....

It didn't matter about Elphick, he's mince and we'd be no better or worse off with him stinking the defence out.

It mattered about replacing Terry.

Since when does McCormack have a drink problem that has led to the detriment of his marriage and career? Spoken like it's common knowledge but that's the first I've heard of it.

It was mentioned on here ages ago, back to his days at Leeds.  Have a look for it.

He split from his partner a while ago as well.

It was well known before we bought him that he liked too much ale, was part of the reason he was such a slow starter to seasons because he couldn't look after himself in the close season.
