Also, the club's top earner hasn't played for donkey's years and they seem to have kept the reasons for that under close wraps without too much trouble or questioning  :o

In which case, why have we had trouble of getting rid of him on loan? We've kept it quiet after all.

Disagree I’m afraid, all the world needed to know was “McCormack fined for missing training” How else would we have known about his lack of climbing ability if Bruce hadn’t publicly outed him?? Poor man management that made McCormack virtually unsellable

You are allowed to disagree of course. But if that had happened what would the press/supporters and everybody else have done when he was still not in the team next match ? and the next and the next and the next etc. AT least by telling the world how it was, we could all know exactly why he was no longer an 'option'

The man is clearly an arsehole who has no interest in whether he plays or not and is happy to sit on his arse counting his coin.
Totally agree with your last paragraph but how many other clubs publicly out a player with the exact circumstances of an incident???

But like SLB said, if Bruce had just said 'he's just missed a couple of training sessions' then continued not to pick him, then he would have been asked every week why is was not in the squad.

The point you're missing is that had we not washed our dirty laundry in public, we might have been able to sell him, in which case nobody would have been in a position to ask where he was.

and the point your missing Risso's is that these guys will back Bruce to the death
he never did nowt wrong its all someone else's fault

it's a Steve Bruce world we just live in it

Am I the only one who's uneasy with the abuse being levelled at McCormack here? If the bloke really is struggling with a drink problem which has resulted in (or is the result of) problems in his personal life, to the detriment of his marriage and career, then I'd hope he'd be afforded a bit more sympathy and compassion. Was Paul McGrath 'clearly an arsehole' as well?

The replacement will be found by the weekend.  He’ll get sacked next Monday.

I think Bruce will be given 15 to 20 games (including 6 already gone) to at least get us into the playoff spots or else he will be binned. 15 games is end of October, 20 games is after Middlesboro away on 1st December. Purslow is going to want a few weeks to put out feelers and give the owners a shortlist of possible replacements if Bruce cant deliver by then.

If we fall off the pace such that we cant get into those spots by then, he may well get binned earlier. Just my predictions, not based on any ITK.

It won't take that long mate. The crowd have turned on him. The new owners might be oblivious to it but Purslow won't be.

Poor man, I didn’t know.

I don’t agree that suddenly moving thousands of miles away is the best thing for him, i think he needs to be in touch with familiar people and places who can reassure and support. If he can get that in Oz, fine, if not, he should stay here.

That’s a great point and one I honestly hadn’t considered. If that’s the case then he should be shown equal compassion as anyone else with similar addictions

I think most decent people would sympathise. However (assuming he has the problem you suggest)  he clearly had the problem when we signed him and covered it up to our financial detriment. Morally he should have stayed at Fulham and sorted himself out. He chose to take the big contract, the big signing on fee and cover up his illness. Basically bollocks to AVFC

What a load of sanctimonious twaddle. It would be great if every person with a dependency problem took a calm and rational approach to their career and put the needs of a hypothetical future employer ahead of their own. But that’s missing the point a bit.
