Plus, with Fox and Co in charge at the time it's difficult to know who to pushed that move.

That's not going to happen is it, way too good to slum it in the championship.

Hasn't played in ages though and we can't afford to have another non playing high earner. However Delph, is at his best, a mile better than any other player we have and would fill a huge hole in our squad on the left side of a midfield three. It's a no brainer if he were interested.

Not so sure re Cleverley, Tiger Tim got him playing very well for a while on the right of a midfield three but it always felt temporary, he was anonymous under Lambert. Going nowhere at Everton though and maybe Bruce knows him through his Man Utd connections. Wouldn't mind giving Tshibola a chance to see if he could be that player.

Only missing the link to Ashley Young now.

From Delph's perspective, would you go to one of the many top flight clubs around Europe who'd want you, or go to a mid-table second division outfit whose fans all think you're a c-word?

Hey, there are no right or wrong answers. It's just something to pop into your mental wok to see if it stir-fries.

I'd genuinely rather stay down than go up having re-signed Delph.

Why?

Because I believe we should at least attempt to maintain some form of principles. He showed the club an enormous amount of disrespect. I don't expect all our players to be Mother Theresa (although she'd probably get into our midfield), but when a player has directly violated our club in such a way I don't believe he deserves to represent our club again. Because of his actions last Summer Fabian Delph is beneath representing Aston Villa, regardless of his ability.

I realise there are little room for principles in modern football, but still. I couldn't bring myself to cheer a goal he scored or applaud him for an assist or tackle. I also realise this is a moot point as there is no way we will be re-signing Fabian Delph.

Bollocks
He didn't have to sign a new contract when Lambert was still manager but he did.
He left for £8m, but could've left for free if he'd wanted to.
I blame Tom Fox

Delphi would be perfect for us.  Will never happen though, that bridge is well and truly burnt.

But we are HIS club. We are in his heart. He said so!

His babby can grow up a Brummie or a Manc. That's motivation enough.

I'd be amazed if D*lph came back.

You'd think most of the prem bottom half would be in for him and it just wouldn't really be the same as he well and truly burnt his bridges with the fanbase when he left.

Don't think Cleverley would be great either but he might offer a goal threat in this divison given he scored a couple towards the end of his time here. A very underwhelming player though.

James and Lansbury are more realistic...is Hourihane link died down then?

Much or Bruce's success in the past has been based on buying lesser known foreign players and them hitting it off.  Surprised we haven't been linked with anybody outside UK.

Amr Zaki probably wouldn't be any worse than Gabby.

Nice sentiment, Percy, but the reality is that his babby will grow up in the millionaire belt of rural Cheshire or its equivalent down here in North Warwickshire or the Cotswolds. That is if (s)he does not spend most of their young life in an expensive boarding school. If, many years from now you asked him/her about The Wood, they would tell you about St John's Wood rather than the Chelmsley variant.

There's more chance of the turd I bombed out this morning coming back to life, swimming back into my bog, jumping out, catching the bus to where I work and forcibly crawling back inside my jacksy tomorrow than Fabian Delph returning to Villa.
