Delph is a grade A Cnut. I hope Man City insult him with a move to the Championship. I also hope we are that team.

I'd genuinely rather stay down than go up having re-signed Delph.

Why?

Because I believe we should at least attempt to maintain some form of principles. He showed the club an enormous amount of disrespect. I don't expect all our players to be Mother Theresa (although she'd probably get into our midfield), but when a player has directly violated our club in such a way I don't believe he deserves to represent our club again. Because of his actions last Summer Fabian Delph is beneath representing Aston Villa, regardless of his ability.

I realise there are little room for principles in modern football, but still. I couldn't bring myself to cheer a goal he scored or applaud him for an assist or tackle. I also realise this is a moot point as there is no way we will be re-signing Fabian Delph.

Same here, Im one of many on here who would rather not sign players, however good they are, because of their off field behaviour. Delph is an odious snake.

Principles are fine. But putting it simply if we want to get out of this hole of a league guys like Delph would make the difference so I say yes. Play the game like anybody else. I hate the guy but I don't think there are any principles left anyway.

Football is full of mercenary snakes anyway. Loyalty? Most players are waiting for a better deal or a better club. They just handle it better than our ex skipper.

At the end of the day SB doesn't have any axe to grind with Delph. SB would look at it from a purely football perspective.

Exactly.

He'd be a means to an end.

But to want to stay down in preference to making a success of the season? I'd prefer success.
