Amavi is a good example of what I was saying about players coming to us then falling by the wayside.  Amavi is a quality player.   French friends told me he was a cracking prospect.  He got injured, fell into the snakepit of Francophobia in the dressing room and his form suffered accordingly.  He is now beginning to show his worth.

Amavi being linked with Marseille in French press and 2 unnamed Prem teams ..hope no he is playing well now ...if big offer comes in though might have to sell to fund other areas

Marseille have been linked with about 10 of our players; they must have no money, as the transers aren't coming off.

Premier League teams would be more of a worry.

I think I understood that Marseille have some large fines to pay for financial shenanigans so aren't really in the big league of European buyers anymore.

A prospect worth persevering with for when we make our return and someone who seems to get the club too compared with others.

I'd say Kodjia and Chester are both "Prem quality" too. Plenty of others could be but have been inconsistent.
Yes.  I think Adomah will be too.  Plus Grealish and Awey, even if he is out of form at the moment.

Chester never really performed in the top division for Hull or West Brom. Kodjia clearly has the ability but the last few games has probadly shown why he has spent his career at no mark French teams and Bristol City. Both are 27 so far from greenhorns.

We have many that have the ability to compete consistently at a higher level, Amavi, Ayew and Grealish come to mind, but again all are lacking the basics really. Courage and professionalism for starters. That tubby fuck McCormack is another one.

In what way are Amavi and Grealish lacking courage as you suggest? As for Chester, I think he is premiership quality, not top 6 or 7 but good enough for the rest IMO. Ayew I don't think wants to be at the club and if that is the case, let him go

Amavi loves jumping over the ball during tackles, don't get the love in for him on here at all. Better than Cissokho isn't much praise. His recovery pace is getting him out of problems at this level that he didnt get away with at a higher level. His supposed attacking threat hasn't been seen at all this season either.

Grealish, think he lacks courage to take the ball in areas of the pitch where you are going to get kicked, to play in the number ten role you have to have that even in the second division.

more professionalism, or lack of, with him off the pitch is why he is at a mid table second division team. That crap for his 21st birthday would have been a sacking offence for another player given his previous. Woeful beyond belief for us last year, Roy Keane for Forest it certainly wasn't.

If Chester was that good why didn't these clubs go for him in the bottom half of the top division in the summer? He is a decent player but a follower not a leader. Diabolical mistake for the Norwich goal, not the greatest positional sense either I've noticed. Why did Pulis keep picking a 35/36 year old Gareth Mcauley over him last year?

Players at our club can't keep blaming everyone else for their shameful performances.

Same for Ayew, why didn't he get a move during the summer to a better club? Ability only takes a player so far.

Grealish lacks courage to take the ball where he gets kicked? Ah? Sides kick lumps out of him on a regular basis.

Someone didn't see the Cardiff game. Grealish was kicked all over the pitch.

We didn't retain the ball well or play well, how does that mean he was hiding? Did you watch him against Cardiff?

Where was he against Cardiff when he was fouled more than any other player in a Division 2 game this season.

I think Amavi has done ok to be fair coming back from his injury, and is continuing to improve.

As for Grealish, I certainly don't think he lacks courage, I think I read he is the most fouled player in the division, hardly the sign of a player scared of being hurt. As for his professionalism, yes he has made a few mistakes, which have been pounced on. One of my favourite players as a teenager was Andy Gray and he was well known for his partying. He seems to have realised he needs to change, what annoys me is the fact all the good things, and there are many, that he does for the club and community go largely unnoticed.

Chester, we will have to disagree. Pullis has his tactics, wasn't he playing Chester and Johnny Evans at full back at times, that Dawson lad as well? What makes you think he is a follower than a leader?

Did you not see Chester in the France  2016 euros   he was one of the top performing defenders in the whole tournament.  Interceptions,  tackles and passing high stats. Great defending in all matches and wondered at time villa should get him and why wba didn't make use. Chester is top quality for this league and should be in prem we also have to acknowledge his efforts with his broken nose and still playing putting his head in.
