Another Bristol style capitulation for me. Ipswich to win comfortably.

How's your day going?

Yep - coming round to the 433. Really don't think Westwood is suited to one of the side midfield three roles though. Tish looks better suited but not sure RDM thinks he's ready to start

Per the midfield thread, some suggestion grealish being considered there. He's lightweight but does have energy and is our best player at retaining the ball. It has to be stronger than just a 2.

Proper front 3 allowed to stay up the pitch with pace and skill could suit us too

Sounds fairly in keeping with the normal message Levico conveys.

We are due a win. But will no doubts come up against another well weathered side who we expect to offer us respect because we are a giant of a club. It might help if we pick a proper side with players playing in their right position and not being shoehorned in to the side. I can't see Adomah or Tshibola starting, mores the pity. Due a win, but a draw for me. 2-2. Hoping for the win that gets us going and sends us into next weeks encounter against the barcodes expecting to win.

2-0 this is where we start to turn it around.

Kodjia and Jack with the goals.

I'd go with a slightly flatter 3 in the middle, with more licence for Tshibola and Westwood to push forwards into space.

Gollini
Bacuna, Elphick, Chester, Cissokho
Tshibola, Jedinak, Westwood
Grealish, Kodjia, Ayew.

Reversed my defeat to three points
And me.  Must be hurting you typing Westwoods name there?

He's awful, but with Bacuna now at right back, I'd have him over Gardner, who is even worse. We're very weak in midfield.

That team and even the midfield looks ok to me.

If we had that Brentford lad Ryan Woods in there instead of Westwood it could really tick.  I'm envious of them and angered by the fact when I found out last night that he's a fairly local lad who has been missed by our scouting network.

It's an odd thing to get angry about.

We've been having every- one back defending since lambert' time and I just don't get why somethings never change. Put someone  on the half-way line ffs.

Oh agreed on that. A bugbear of mine for years. Grealish and Ayew won't win many headers in our box. They might keep a few out of it who will if they are stood on the halfway line though.

when i played under 11's football our manager always said that when the opposition had a corner 2 attackers had to stand on the halfway line

fuck me is it really that difficult?

If he plays players in their natural positions then a win. I thought the same vs Brentford, then I saw the line up. If Tish and Jedinak are fit, try 4-2-3-1 again. If one of them is not then I would like him to go 4-3-2-1 just to see us try and dominate the midfield and go from there...

This seems to get picked up by football fans regularly. The counterargument I have seen is that the more people defending in the box the more likely it is to stop a goal. Of course however it means sacrificing an attacking outlet. I assume coaches and managers have lots of stats about goals from corners and what the best way to defend them is. Most teams seem to do it nowadays.

Percy told me it was about being able to break quicker if you were facing the opposition goal. Or something.

by leaving two men on the half way line the opposition have to leave 3 back so you already have an advantage

dont get me started on zonal marking
