Apparently the M6 Jn6 roadworks have completed sooner than expected and there should be no weekend road closures this weekend, so I'm going to risk going my normal route in the hope I can exit at Jn6 to Park Circus. Still night time closures and restrictions on the Expressway so probably need a new route home.

Thank you. You have partly answered a question I was going to ask. It was nearly half time when I finally got to the Boro friendly. So if I take my usual route through Yardley across the Fox And Goose crossroads through Bromford and then up to Spaghetti will I be able to get onto the Lichfield Road a hell of a lot easier than I did that day?

I already have my 'cunning plan' route home due to the experience of that day and spending years managing betting shops in Duddeston, Saltley, Washwood Heath and Alum Rock.

Apparently we'll be welcoming Dr Tone on the pitch before kick-off tomorrow. Hope he doesn't do a Delia

Anyone know the Mandarin for "let's be 'avin' you"?

让我们将您的     :)

What about, "Let's fuck these fuckers"?

Now then, that'll be:  让我们干这些 fuckers

Would that be like in my Eighties late night snooker sessions at Snow Hill, where the lads on the next table would break out in an argument which involved shouting in words unintelligible to me, save for one clear-as-day swear word in there somewhere, before someone then got a cue round the back of the head?

English, best language on the planet!!

I would take a punt that we did in the third division days as I would guess that has been Rotherham's average level in their history.

That was the last time at home and we lost but won at their place in the March of '72.

Can't help you with that one Damo - I usually go M5-M6 Jnc 6-Expressway-Park Circus-King Edwards. Normal route home is reverse of that but don't think I'll be able to get back on Expressway at Park Circus so might have to try Birchfield Road to Jnc 7 or back through town and Hagley Rd. Either way I think it's going to be a slow haul home - hope the dog's bladder lasts 'til I get back home!

I've not seen us play yet, nothing, no highlights, no goals, not a thing. So I should be excited about Saturday, my first game of the season. But I'm not. Right now, I don't want to go. I will, and as the time approaches I don't doubt I'll start to feel optimistic. But right now, to think that come Saturday evening I'll feel anything different to the wretched emotions of last season seems a pipe dream.

I am, I really really am!

I love you, Villa.

Twelvety-nil to us.

Ah, the joy of dogs. The reason why for years we have had laminate flooring on the hall, stairs and landing as opposed to carpet!

Early seventies definitely.  I was at Millmore when we beat them, I can't remember the bloody score, it was either 2-1 or 3-2 but given my memory it was probably 1-0.  I still have the programme.

If someone ever says 'Rotherham' to me my first thought is of a rather chunky Emlyn Hughes as their player manager in the early eighties when Match Of The Day felt obliged to show highlights of the odd division two game now and again. Fulham and Gordon Davies used to feature a lot too. Probably close to the studios and saving on the petrol money.

Although to be fair it isn't very often someone approaches me and says "Rotherham".

I always associate Rotherham with a gobby rubber dinosaur from a 90s kids' Saturday morning TV show, the name of which escapes me.

Will go for a 3-1 win.  Anyew, Elphick and Gardner.   Any win would do me to gets us off the mark and calm the home nerves.

Yes we played them in division 2 in the late 60's after we dropped down from division 1 in 1967. The first game against them was in August 1967 in front of a crowd 13000 in a semi derelict VP. There is a post elsewhere on this thread showing the cover of the programme for that game
