I remember an interview with the ex Coventry winger Dave Bennet. He'd have a shot of rum before kick off. Seems a popular tactic in the 70s and 80s.
Wrapped up like a present? He had a hand on him and the forward had a hand on his leg. So what? Never a penalty.
If that was given every time there'd be half a dozen penalties in every match and they'd last two hours.

Elphick has two arms around the striker, whose hand is not in fact on Elphick's leg. Tommy has let a striker get in front of him and outmuscle him in a set-piece situation so he's wrapped his arms around him and the lad hasn't been able to move. It's a penalty.

That constitutes holding, an offence punishable with a direct free kick. Six of one half a dozen of the other, impossible to call as both offences occur at the same time. What are you going to give? Correct decision IMO? Play on. I've experienced enough of incidents in my time to know that is what the referee should have done. I always try to see the referee's point of view but this one he got wrong.
All right then. Explain to me why is his left arm across Elphick's chest? He's holding him off, and, his right elbow is in our no 4's ear.
