These refs watch the world cup and mayvhave been influence to give pk I seen them of course not given.

Elphick is a bit old school in defending and the whole grappling thing is so unclear as other times it's a foul against the attacker or nothing given .

It's just typical though that a penalty was conceded by him and he looked fine because he was not up against a trouble some strike force in any way what so ever .

The ref had a wall of players in front of him he guessed wrong. Pathetic.

I posted it at the time on the match thread.

I have every sympathy with Elphick regarding Tuesday but it will all end in tears if we rely on him as a regular this season. He three unforced errors in the Hull match alone.

I once had the great honour to talk football to Steve Hunt.  He admitted to me that he suffered very badly from nerves when he played.  I commented that I had never seen any trace of it in his game and how did he do it.  He replied that he had half a tumbler of whisky before he ran on the pitch and the same again at half time.  Somebody should suggest it to Tommy Elphick.

I'm not sure that would work.  Half the time it looks like he's already pissed.

Some people, me included, are more reliable pissed than sober.  You just don't  drive a car or use a chainsaw.

Especially not at the same time.

How are there people saying it shouldn't have been a penalty? He had a striker wrapped up like a Christmas present, preventing him from jumping or moving much at all in the box.

Just because someone's "seen a decision go the other way" doesn't mean it's not the right decision. It was a stonewall penalty every day of the week for me.

I want to like Elphick, he has a decent attitude and he's hungry, but my God has he been atrocious so far this season.

Wrapped up like a present? He had a hand on him and the forward had a hand on his leg. So what?

Never a penalty.

Agreed. It was a pathetic decision.

As Jim Cumbes put it:

"Before the game we were in the dressing room and, as was our custom, a whisky bottle was being passed round. Some of the players took a drink then when we'd all run out on to the pitch Vic took a big swig out of the bottle."

Someone asked him why he drank so much of it and he replied, "When you're manager of this club you'll know why".
