It's easy with hindsight, not such an easy decision at that moment when losing at home in the cup to a side three divisions below us. If he'd taken Adama off and we'd lost, he would have been absolutely slaughtered for it.
What I would have liked is for the ref to have had a big enough pair to be issuing cards and warnings as soon as they started hacking.

Totally agree with this, no way should he have been taken off, it is the referee who has to stop this.

Can't help feeling Gana came back too early against Liverpool - he had the injury only a week before that game. Same could be said for Adama.

We won the game against Notts County after Adama went off. My biggest beef is that we know what referees are like these days. They are weak and self focussed. Once those tackles started flying in on Adama and Notts were clearly playing your-turn-to-take-a-yellow-card, Sherwood should have been going mad about it from his technical area. The presence of a captain on the pitch doing the same would have helped.  Who was it that daft, stupid night?  Clark?

Sherwood's sole comment that it was a bad tackle summed up for me one of the many areas of football management where he is half soaked and casual.  Our most gifted players are going to get kicked all season and the manager has to use every weapon at his disposal to protect them.  I fully expect Stoke to kick lumps out of Jack this afternoon.

Just read an article on Adama which says he is on a basic £40k a week which is so heavily incentivized that he could earn up to £75k a week given a set number of appearances. Fuck me I didn't realize we were handing out those sort of contracts to the new recruits! Anyone think this is actually true?

No idea, but a lot of suggestion on social media last night that Sherwood being sacked and then Traore's contract details emerging is no coincidence.

John Percy of The Torygraph broke the story so it probably had legs.

Heavily incentivised? I like the sound of that.

Let's hope he's doing all the things that mean we need to be paying him lots of money in future then.

£40k p/w for one of the most highly rated youngsters from the best academy in the world, seems fair to me, and heavily incentivised seems reasonable as well since us having to make those payments means things are going well.

Yeah, who would feed Percy the line - didn't he suddenly start getting all sorts of Villa "exclusives" once Timmy was on board.

That's eye-watering amounts of money. Given his experience and the level he was playing at before, a tenth of that would be about right. Of course, without this bribe he would never have left Barça B.

I know it's way too early to say the new Nii Lamptey, but I hope he starts paying us back with performances soon.

How much is Martial getting at ManUre?

Traore is a similar style of player, but just hasn't had the opportunities having been kicked to death in the Notts County game.

Traore with the right coaching will be a star. We are lucky to have him, and I hope that he does all he can to get his incentivised contract. I would also bet that it has more than 10 games to be earned to get to 75k, but that is not what Tim will be peddling in the background to try and convince the world Lennon was worth that wage instead.

A tenth? Traore would not come to England and play for someone for £4k a week.
