I thought he did alright considering his it's his first game back. Looked like he was trying to make things happen, did overdo it a bit but he looks a player who will take the game by the scruff of the neck. A lot of what he tried very nearly came off as well.

Start vs Stoke please.

I was watching him on Saturday when he didn't have the ball. I swear he almost never moved an inch. He just stood there watching the game like he was an observer. The thought of tracking back wasn't even on his planet. When he gets the ball he's pretty strange too. Everything starts with stop. Like a bull about to charge, he holds the ball, waits, looks at his opponent and charges through and past him.

He's a really strange player and I'm not sure how it's going to go. Power, strength, speed and control he most certainly has. It's the rest that worries me. Maybe it's the Barca way of playing is still very much inside his head but I really hope he can adapt to the PL and be a great individual and team player for us rather than a circus act.

Can't wait to see him again.

He probably learned that from Messi.

I've noticed that Leo has worked out that he can beat any player over five metres from a standing start, so Messi will often stop to make the defender stop and then take off again...knowing that he will be able to go past them.

I asked the same and someone has told me Sherwood said on OS that he was limping during the U21 game this week and looks doubtful for Saturday

Not the start we and no doubt Adama wanted. We really need him in the team to offer something different to what we have in attack.

To sum up in one word..  frustrating.

Adama's pace and dribbling skills are electrifying, but his decision-making on when to release the ball are somewhat lacking. I'm sure this will improve with good coaching, but it does diminish his contribution to the team currently. Still, I'd start him on the bench and bring him on around 60 mins (if he's fit).

TS actually said on the OS:

Quote
Idrissa Gana is fully fit.

He's had a bit of treatment this week on that hamstring. It's still niggling away at him but we're hoping it'll be fine.

Adama Traore is struggling.

He played in an U21 game against West Brom. He was limping one minute and the next minute he wasn't.

I had a chat with him and said 'we need to find out if you're fit' and make a decision based on that.

We'll see how it goes.

He picked up an ankle injury against Notts County.

He's come back and he still feels it a wee bit. We can't take any risk with him.

There's still a long way of this season to go and we've got to make sure he's 100% right.

I agree we can't risk him if he's not right but didn't quite rule him out of playing tomorrow.

Strange how he can also say Gueye is fully fit then in his next sentence say that he's still having treatment, its niggling and we its only a hope that he's fine rather than he will be.

Christ, Tim's now contradicting himself seconds apart within the same interview. Is he all there?

I really think he's going to be a huge player for us this season but he does seem very brittle on any sort of physical contact.

Ties in with Tim's early comments of you're not playing in the Segunda anymore so toughen up.

He took a battering against Notts County to be fair...it was only a matter of time he would get injured in that game and TS should have took him off earlier to protect him the way the tackles were flying in on him.

We were losing 3-2 when he got crocked, he was hardly going to take off one of our main threats when we were losing.

Fair point but we were playing Notts County and we won the game without him on the pitch anyway.

Playing devils advocate...would you rather:

a) Traore stays on, gets injured, we beat Notts County but we only pick up 1pt from our next 4 league games
b) Traore comes off, doesn't get inured, we lose against Notts County but we pick up 9pts from our next 4 league games

Not saying thats what would have happened, but we'd have definitely had a better chance of picking up 3pts against each of Sunderland, Leicester and Baggies with a fit Traore in the team.

It's easy with hindsight, not such an easy decision at that moment when losing at home in the cup to a side three divisions below us. If he'd taken Adama off and we'd lost, he would have been absolutely slaughtered for it.
What I would have liked is for the ref to have had a big enough pair to be issuing cards and warnings as soon as they started hacking.
