Adebayor seems to be one of those players that scores a few goals when he joins a club and then does bugger all for most of the time. That might be something I've just made up but it sounds right so don't bother checking.

I'm actually quite looking forward to seeing what the new season brings, the four signed so far all seem decent and hopefully the Benteke money will be given to the manager to bring in 2 or 3 quality players. We've lost the spine of the team but let's face it they were pretty poor anyway (with the exception of Benteke) most of the time, I'm quite optimistic. Just don't sign Adebayor.

I remember hearing some story about an unhappy dressing room at Arsenal due to a little clique of players making life difficult for the rest, with Adebayor being the main problem, and that's why Wenger got rid of him and a couple of others at the time. There was also a lot of rumours he wasn't very popular at Man City too.
He's also 31, may well have peeked, and I feel very sure he's not going to have the kind of attitude that you need scrapping for points at the wrong end of the table. Not for me I'm afraid.

I think it was Adebayor, not Wenger who forced the move

Is Benteke actually going to be leaving.   Interesting tabloid journalism from Sunday People that could put the kybosh on his move to Liverpool.
"Aston Villa's Christian Benteke is thought to be hoping one of the top four can also meet his £32.5m release clause and offer him Champions League football before he puts pen to paper with Liverpool."

You missed out on a career as a football journalist it appears.

He's already gone for all intents and purposes. We go again.

Replacing him like for like would be very difficult. Benteke was one of those seldom found gems.

Wenger "got rid of him"? They wanted him to stay. He moved to a more successful club. Just like Nasri, Clichy, Van Persie and Anelka.

Rumours of him being a bad influence at Arsenal seem to have only spread since he left... they loved him when he was there.

I think other clubs do research before buying players and you don't get signed by, in succession, Man City, Real Madrid and Tottenham (hateful though it is to admit it, they're streets ahead of us at present) if you're a trouble-maker.

What was his 'length of the pitch' celebration all about when he scored against Arsenal.  There seemed to be more in it than getting back at the fans.

Arsenal fans giving him loads of stick because they couldn't accept he'd left them for a team which is currently above them in the pecking order. And he got it right up them. Fair play.

yes he has and has been granted significant compassionate leave. Lots of sympathy for his personal problems but not what we need at VP right now. There are other experienced PL players to choose from Tim!

Newcastle apparently signing Mitrovic.  He replaced Benteke very well for me in Football Manager.  But I sold him in January and Helenius was on fire for the remainder of that season, including a hat-trick against Man Ure in the FA  cup semi final, so it possibly doesn't have much bearing on reality.

The last ting we need is a striker who thinks he's got a juju curse on him. That's for sure.

Can't we just buy Rudy Gestede and forget about Adebayor and his many problems. We have enough of our own!

He should go to Small Heath, he'd fit right in.

Oh come on, don't you start with the curses as well.  The poor bloke's got enough to worry about as it is.
