Keep it down...Anything that weakens one of our rivals next season is good news!

Vlaar to Arsenal?  Seriously?  Jesus wept.  Expect Wenger's head on a stick by Christmas.

Is there space for him in the physio?

In the physio? Is he a tonton?

If I knew what a 'tonton' was I could probably answer that.

I'm going to have a guess that it's rhyming slang, i.e. Tonton Macoute = fruit = homosexual.

I think he's talking about that creature in Empire Strikes Back that has it's stomach cut open and used for warmth.

Thought it was pronounced torn-torn?

Eh? Over he years Wenger's signed way worse defenders than Vlaar for lots of money.
I doubt Wenger would sign Vlaar...its just media bullshit at the moment.

That may well be the case. My point was if he did it would hardly signal the start of the end of his days as manager there.

You're probably right.  In which case I've just invented a high brow rhyming slang insult for gays.

You have a wonderfully vivid imagination for a bean counter.

No, it's the creature in Star Wars that Luke is forced to cut open and climb inside in order to save his arse on the ice planet Hoth.

Tonton is also what kids call their "oncle" (uncle) in France. They also say "tata" for "auntie".

So, tata would be " brown ha.. [That's enough homophobic insults. Ed]"

His height is put at 1.80 metres that is a shade under 5ft 11inches. If the intention is to play him at centre half then that appears to be on the short side for a centre back in the modern game IMO.

Fabio Cannavaro - 5ft 9in.

Not saying that Micah Richards is Fabio Cannavaro or owt though.

Don't think he played in the Premier did he? I think a lack of height could be a problem in this league that is all. Especially at set pieces which so many managers love. Recall the old adage "a good big one will beat a good little one".

Reading that DM interview, it's very encouraging to hear him say how tactically he's improved in Italy. We'll need some leadership and organisation back there, not that we've had a great deal over the last few seasons.

he had plenty of time for studying tactics while on Fiorentina's bench or in the stands as he spent the most of last season.

he has made 19 league starts in three years

his most noteworthy contribution in that time was his demand for a special medal - http://www.dailystar.co.uk/sport/football/379324/EXCLUSIVE-Manchester-City-to-make-Micah-Richards-a-special-Premier-League-winners-medal

I guess I would be in the underwhelmed camp re this signing

He didn't, but I'm pretty sure that as a central defender he would have had to deal with a tall striker here and there and seemed to do alright with it.

Crosses and corners happen in other leagues and in international football as well as in the Premier League.

The key is that, at his best, Richards has a hell of a leap on him which makes up for him being slightly on the short side.  If he can stay fit.

We need someone who can raise the bar amongst the squad and especially the back line. Richards can do that and he's a leader.
