It reminded me of Bruno's 2nd fight vs Tyson when he basically just got a good hiding.

Is it safe to rejoin mainstream media yet? I'd normally listen to 5Live / Talksport whilst driving about but havent been able to bring myself to since Saturday afternoon.

I caught a bit of TS this evening on the way back/to/backagain from work. Totally agreed with their comments about our sub-par, so-called performance on Saturday.

"Abide" was probably the most memorable part for me.
Thought the Anthem got a good belt-out as well.

The bloke next to me got very annoyed by my Villa Union Jack ( very old and fading, nabbed off a factory roof by my mom, Aston Villa written in black marker pen by me in the late 70s) during Abide with me. I apologised and had a wee chat - he was from Norn Iron. A few seconds later he pointedly sat down during the national anthem so I figured it wasn't just me.

If he don't sell, Lerner may go on a guilt trip this summer and hand TS a £50m war chest. Let's see how the coming weeks unfold before we start wreck-less actions like posting used tickets back to the club   ;)

Agreed. There's no turning back from that. It's the football rebel's equivalent of sneaking into Syria to join IS.

I'll wait until the whole thing is not being discussed at all :-) need one of the sky4 to sign someone ASAP

My overriding feeling from Saturday was that it looked like we had no right to be there, similar to Bradford when they were battered by Swansea.

There is so much work needed to get the squad up to the level of quality needed & to bring the confidence levels up. Being battered by Southampton seems to have really had an impact on the team. I guess for most of the team all they've known is a continuous battle to stay afloat.

I really hope Sherwood gets the help he needs.

In your you wee chat you should have advised him that if he finds the British flag and national anthem so upsetting, he'd be best avoiding major sporting events on the mainland in the future.  What a bizarre attitude!  It's the equivalent of a British person going to the All-Ireland final at Croke Park and getting a bit tetchy at the sight of a tricolour and the Irish anthem.

On paper they are twice as good as us.  That's the simple fact.  For the outcome to be any other than it was would mean they had to perform well below standard and we would need to be well above.  When we perform below standard this is what happens.

But not to have a single shot on target or even a corner was beyond anything you could have feared. At least we didn't suffer a record final defeat I suppose. Who would have thought a Sherwood team would have a stat like that. I do wonder what would have happened if we had started with Gabby, who has often played well against them and was at least having a run at them.

With 3 Irish grandparents I am aware of the sensitivities from the land across the sea and Saturday before kick off was not the time or place for a discussion. More pressing matters were at hand....

Yep.  Bloke next to me was in tears throughout it and at the end of it him and his young son hugged each other.  Summed up what the day is about for me.

The applause in the 63rd minute for the Villa fan who recently passed away was a nice touch as well.

I guarantee you wouldn't be saying that had the players showed up, put in a decent shift and the scoreline wasn't such an epic piss take.

As I've said before, I can only think that something must have happened behind the scenes to explain why we went from playing teams off the park to the no-show performances of the last 3 games. It doesn't make sense.

Yes. Although in the semi final, I thought we played like we owned the place, let alone belonged there. The fact is, Arsenal played very well, and we played very badly. I thought we made it very easy for them.

The one thing I was hoping was that he'd start with Giroud up front rather than Walcott, but he didn't. Their midfield looked awesome. Ours looked understaffed and porous.

I thought it was pretty embarrassing to watch, to be honest, but the amount of time I'm going to spend being gutted about it is tempered by the fact we somehow managed to not get relegated.

Well those sensitivities can stay across the sea and in the environs of Glasgow as far as I'm concerned.
