We're definitely light in midfield - could be a chance to try a back 3 with Okore, Vlaar and Baker.  I fancy Bacuna and Richardson to be more effective as wing backs than they are as full backs.

Definitely worth considering, Bacuna with another assist today. Nice cross in for Benteke.

Will Hutton, Westwood or Sinclair be back from injury?

With Benteke in this kind of form, we have a real chance against Liverpool.

One thing is for sure we won't lose at Wembley for a lack of trying to win. In fact that kind of attitude is more likely to get us the result we want.

After such a poor second half performance against QPR, you really have to give Sherwood some praise for getting the lads' heads so focused. Not only was it a 110% effort from all, there was a lot of quality shown in our play.

Gabby was so unlucky not to provide Legion with an update of his favourite goal; it was only the post that prevented Gabby scoring an almost identical goal to the brilliant last minute winner from Ashley Young at Goodison.

Delph should have finished off Spurs after being set up by Benteke. Great that he was there but a very poor effort from him and an area of his game that still has loads of space to improve. At least today he was involved for the full 90 minutes, in fact, the whole team deserve massive credit, there were no weak links, every man put in a massive shift and looked to play the ball intelligently.

Best of all, despite having so many players out, whoever comes in seems to be able to slot in rather than completely changing the shape of the team. Sherwood and his backroom boys deserve huge credit for that.

He was dealt such a bad hand coming into this situation and even in his time here has continuously had massive hurdles to overcome. The injuries have been utterly crazy and he and his staff have been creative enough to find ways to get points. I am enjoying just knowing going into every game that we are trying to win. Not settling for a draw even if the draw is a good result. Lambert killed us with the no lose philosophy because we got sucked deeper and deeper every game until we conceded, and a victory amounted to not losing by more than 3. I cannot wait for next week, however the day might pan out.

Sanchez is fine until about 70 minutes. We'll miss him against Liverpool.

I also thought Sanchez was pretty solid today. Someone said they'd take the Sylla from the run in two years ago over Sanchez today but to be fair you could take the Sylla from two years ago over a lot of players as he was very good at that time.

The other thing with Sanchez, he made a great interceptionin our box on about 70-75 mins where he did really well to get back in and spot the danger.  Yes it was a clumsy challenge and yes he gave the ball away a few too many times but giving him a 4 out of 10 is taking the piss, no one in a villa shirt today deserves less than a 7, it was a good team performance away at a side who have scored a lot of goals at home recently and have a very good home record.  For me it was 7s and 8s all round except Benteke and Vlaar who'd both get 9s.

1 more thing, when Sanchez got his first yellow the ref held up 5 fingers and at the time I couldn't think of a free kick given against him for a tackle before that.  Looking through the live feed on BBC backs that up, it was the 3rd free kick against him but the other 2 are listed as handballs, harshly done by in my opinion, the tackle itself wasn't a booking and the totting up that the ref suggested as the reason doesn't add up either.  Seems like he's been booked on reputation to me.

The first booking was very harsh IMO, the little piece of you know what Mason made a massive meal of it. As for his ability, anyone care to remember the terrific challenge on the edge of his own box on Tuesday that led to Benteke's second goal

Caught Tims pre and post match interviews on Final Score. Pre match he was respectful towards Levy and his club.
Post Match he was very level headed about the win although inside he must have been bursting with pride.
He's certainly not the gobby bugger he came across as during his time at Spurs.
If he can do well in the summer transfer window we might just have the makings of a very good manager on our hands at long last.
Let's hope PL results go for us next weekend whilst we're busy fucking Stevie G off.

Agree with that. It is also worth noting Sanchez was in the pressure position all game. Spurs midfield the way they setup and their skill level whoever is in that position will not get a single moments peace the whole game. I thought he did alright, the first yellow he got was bollocks as well.

He's still relatively new to the league. And the pace gets to him sometimes. But for a player who cost 4/5 mm tops that's what you get in today's market.

For that money you should expect better. There's being a little off the pace, and there's being a country mile off the pace. Aside from a couple of months in the middle of the season, he's looked no better than Sylla. In fact I'd take the Sylla from the run in two years ago over Sanchez any day of the week.
