The infamous battle of Brum in '83. Not bad, but I can beat that. We beat Small Heath 6-0 in the Simod Cup on my eighteenth birthday in 1988. I was there but I have just tried and failed to find out how many others were. I have an idea it was about eight and a half thousand.

But we were only 15K.

Quote from: Chipsticks on March 01, 2015, 12:26:18 AMWe're almost definitely going to get a significantly lower turnout for this than the cup game which annoys me to no end, but either way we should get a good atmosphere and hopefully we'll see them off. It's on my Birthday so surely that means something? Please Villa, Please. It probably means that your birthday will be spoilt....

Ron Vlaar is an injury doubt for the WBA clash on Tuesday.Vlaar is described as "touch and go" by manager Tim Sherwood ahead of the Baggies encounter in the Barclays Premier League this week.Sherwood said Vlaar has been struggling with a calf injury but is still hopeful of seeing his skipper available for the derby match.Villa boss Sherwood did, however, reveal that Kieran Richardson and Aly Cissokho will both be out of the game.Richardson and Cissokho were absent on Tyneside and will be again for the Albion match.Matt Lowton came in at left-back for the Newcastle encounter and could well be in the team again this week.Sherwood said he never likes to hide behind injury issues but says they are "crippling" at present heading into the Baggies double-header.He added: "You very rarely hear me crying about injuries but it's crippling at the moment."They are all in defensive areas of the field and it is hurting us."But you get on with it."
The Spaniard was an unused substation at the weekend in the Midlands club's 1-0 defeat at Newcastle United, sparking rumours he was carrying a knock. However, Sherwood has revealed the attacking midfielder is fully fit but he must fight - like every player - for his spot in the Villa first-team."I preferred someone else [at the weekend]. It is up to Carles now to prove on the training ground that he warrants a place [in the team]," said Sherwood."Everyone is up for selection and everyone is going to get an opportunity to play between now and the end of the season."
