We were so poor to watch when Gil first came in, I think we were blinded by a player who could beat his opponent or pass to a team mate, we obviously didn't see much of that under Lambert, Sherwood is right in his assessment of Gil, lets hope he fulfils his promise , bit lightweight but has deffo quality !

For all we know Lambert could have been talking sense, we just couldn't understand him!

Good news and I have to agree with TS he looked good when first here as we were so very poor

The guy certainly has the talent and I agree would have him start first if he is directly up against Grealish

I would agree.Apart from the semi final I haven't been that impressed by Grealish

Me neither, I think he's promising but has been a little over-hyped.

Think he's out of a couple of weeks. A shame as he was building momentum in this pre season.

At least he's involved in things now. I was convinced he was leaving this summer.

He'll be back to score the winner against Man Utd.

I'm surprised nobody has bumped this yet to speak specifically about his cameo yesterday, especially given that it was his first league appearance for us in quite a long time.

I know Sunderland had basically shut up shop and were letting us have all the possession by the time he turned up, but I thought his movement off the ball and link-up play was very good: knew when to keep it tidy and when to force the issue. 36 touches in 27 minutes nicely sums up how willing he was to be the focal point for our build-up play. In particular, I liked the half-dinked pass he played to start the 1-2 which preceded his being brought down in the box - it didn't look that difficult but somehow I suspect we don't have many others who can manage that.

With Grealish presumably back next week I don't think there's any pressing need to put Gil in the starting lineup, but I feel very good about having him as an option on the bench for now; and hopefully Sherwood figures out when the best times are for deploying him.

I like him s lot, has great balance and awareness

Just wish he'd shot when through yesterday rather than try to beat one more defender

It did

He did play well though. He just has that low sense of gravity and the ability to glide past an opponent. His type of player is the reason i watch football. Joy to watch. Grealish is the same

Seeing him, Sinclair, Traore and Jack playing together on a regular basis is going to be a pleasure.

I'm so excited at this prospect...all I imagine is glorious, incisive, passing football mixed in with a glut of goals.

Is there any update on Traore's injury?  I may have missed it if there is.

Sorry, wrong thread.

I honestly don't see the fuss, he's tidy but ultra lightweight and he lacks pace.

He's a Spanish Shaun Maloney.
