Maybe he nutmegged Sherwood in training !twice!

Actually I'm pretty sure he did or made the first eleven Sherwood  picked in training look ordinary in a versus rest of squad match

But you think Sherwood would turn Sammi Ameobi into a good player?

Potentially as Sam am is British academy based and Sherwood motivational style could work unlike his dealings with gil

So Sherwood can only work with british based players like erm... Sammi Ameobi?

I don't care how good a motivator he is, it won't make either Ameobi good enough.

Talk Sport transfer guy. Mentioned Gil was being talked about for a loan to Real Betis. Then he got an update saying it has just been announced that Gil has been told he will be a part of the Villa squad this coming season !!! This could be like a new signing. He is quality and I hope Wilkins has turned Sherwoods head .......

Interesting. There was always a strong case that he would be sold but I also thought it was a bit much throwing a young lad into a relegation battle when he's come from a very different culture and has to learn a new language. With how easily he was being knocked off the ball against Stoke and with how he would receive the ball deep into our own half, I can see the sense in that.

Now that he's had a chance to experience the culture, learn the language, get to know his teammates and have a full pre-season with us, he could be a good player in the new look side.

I do hope that is correct. I am sure 99% of us would like to see Carles performing his skills as a member of the first team squad.

Whoo! Hoo! If true that would be like I new signing. I'd resigned myself to Carles leaving.

I heard that too on Talksport, the transfer rumour guy was on building it up as if he was going to be sold and then said he'd had it confirmed in the last half hour that he was back in the fold for next season's plans. It certainly was eyebrow-raising stuff.

Maybe he's come back from the summer break with rock-hard abs and Tim is suitably impressed.

Didn't Sherwood suggest that certain players were required for relegation fight? I also think Gil probably didn't do himself any favours in proving he could have been a part of things at the end of last season. Also I believe Sherwood after the cup final that he wanted to play different ways and get some players who hadn't played much more involved. All in all good news.

Great stuff! Probably the only player during those dark days who looked able (likely) to do something. I'd be ecstatic to see him feature for Villa again.
