By all accounts good positive singing. I  was aware we were interested in Matty Grimes but felt he wasn't ready for premier league 1st team action . Obviously Villa are hoping for this move to be a success and I can compare Alvarez at Sunderland who has come in to their club as a player of similar attributes. (Note has taking time to settle.quality player, similar lamela of spurs both may not be suited to premier league)  Playing wise I would say you're looking at similar play making qualities of Carlos vela or Giovanni Santos and Carzola and Silva at the top end. Keep the faith.

Will bring villa forward .

After an hour of awful football I saw something unique today. I saw;

* A midfielder move off the ball
* A midfielder pick the unexpected pass
* A midfielder pass the ball accurately forwards
* A midfielder run with the ball forwards
* A midfielder take on and beat a man wih trickery

Well that's easy to answer myf. We will make him into another Cleverley and than we will have ready replacements for scenario you describe. We are half way there with Grealish on that project.

That's how it used to be if I remember correctly but that was a long time ago...circa early to mid nineties I think.

He was like a breath of fresh air when he came on. I don't think he lost the ball once or misplaced a single pass.

The sad thing is that one memory that stands out is him moving to receive the ball from a throw in and being able to pass it forwards.

I am impressed by a throw in, that's how bad we are.

I imagine Lambert took a note of that and will ensure that next week he has learnt never again to voluntarily receive a ball from a throw in. He'll be taught to allow an opponent to get the ball or have it bounce of his shin to an opposing player or out of play. It's the new Villa way.

He looked promising but we need to see a bit more than a debut cameo before we start hailing him as the saviour.

I was impressed when he took a throw in. No waiting about, no looking for Benteke to flick it on, no, straight to a Villa player in space. It was brilliant.

Getting throw ins right is a job most managers struggle to get right, credit to Lambert
