We've signed a really highly rated young player from one of the best sides in Spain, with one of the best academies going and for a song too.

Somewhere on a Valencia forum right now, people are having the Spanish equivalent of the Cahill/Knight argument.

Fantastic news.

Straight in to the team.

I would guess that with Mr Mustn't take a risk in charge, he will not be in the starting X1

Well we might see a bit of skill now. He has said all the right things about the club lets just hope he can make his undoubted talent work for the team.

Who's told the poor bastard that we're a 'strong team'?

If we won the FA Cup this year we would be in the unusual position of having an incredibly inept manager who we want to see the back of... at the same time being a bloody legend who I would have no option but to love forever.

Some fan opinions on a Valencia message board. 64% thought they should keep him or loan him out.

Sounds like his best position is LW and he has some talent.

This just goes to show how far our once lowly club has risen.

Very pleased with this. On one of the rare occassions we've looked good recently, Burnley in the first hour or so, it was because we had Cole looking like an alien in our midfield with his movement and positive play. Gil, from the little I have seen, looks very quick and direct.

We've been crying out for a player who can play between the lines and offer some guile for a long time.

Apparently Gil is like Pienaar at Everton, lacks pace but high energy.
