Great support and far more than Lambert deserves. Another thing I do like about the Bundesliga is the bond the teams have with their fans. That is certainly something lost from the Premier League imo.

With regards to tonight and the next few fixtures Lambert will be praying Benteke bails him out yet again.

Clearly not a pressing need with the amount of entertainment gained from the games being minimal, but are any pubs showing the games in the Sutton area anymore? The Royal and The Three Tuns have shut up shop on them. Probably because they're horrendously shite.

Just over 2300 sold for tomorrow. Great support.

That's superb for a Tuesday night down there.

Bless you all - about the only thing to be proud about at the moment

Couldn't agree more, hope the team give all of you something to cheer. Come on the Villa boys!

From The Grauniad's Premier League: 10 things to look out for in the midweek fixtures:

Quote
4) Can Palace grab some breathing space?

The first week of December is far too early to talk about relegation six-pointers but with Crystal Palace and Aston Villa
separated only by goal difference, the winners of the game in south London can at least secure some breathing space before
the busy Christmas period. It was a similar story in the corresponding fixture back in March when a Palace win virtually
assured safety for Tony Pulis and left Paul Lambert nervously looking over his shoulder.

The Eagles are once again in good form having recovered from a shaky run under Neil Warnock, while Villa have at least stopped
the rot with three straight draws. Those of a certain vintage may recall that it is now more than 30 years since a goal from
Gary Shaw secured their last win at Selhurst Park on their way to the First Division title in 1980-81. How times have changed. EA

Villa win. An early Christmas present. Every season there seems to be a result that lifts spirits temporarily.

The Boot used show the games? Worse case the Anchor in Streethay is run by a Villa fan.

Gone for an optimistic, yet at the same time ultimately unsatisfactory draw. 1-1.

Fair play to everyone who makes the trip.

The turn out and atmosphere from the Villa supporters tonight will be interesting. I am sure most who are there will vocally support the team reguardless of the performance.

I want us to win. I always want us to win. But, if we lose, Lambert will go... A 0-0 draw with them having 89% of the possession and missing a penalty it is, then!

We're setting off at 2.30 'cos it's such a mare to get to/park etc.
No doubt we'll start with our usual gusto as regards supporting the players...can see it getting nasty towards Mr Lambert though if things go tits up!

They have had a couple of good results, don't know if that means they are in form.  I always thought this would be a tough match anyway.  One important thing is that we match their intensty and get a grip on the midfield early.  I think we need to be postive from the off, but also need to make sure that we don't make sloppy errors and keep things tight at the back.  Too much to ask for?  I think if Benteke is up for it he could be a key vocal point, and could be a good player for others to build off.
