Help me. Am I missing something?
Couldn't we still go down if everything goes belly up and goal difference is destroyed?

Well yes if Norwich beat Chelsea and Arsenal and there's an 18 goal swing...so we are safe.
We could lose the last two games with 10 against. That is possible. Than Norwich will have to beat Chelsea and Arsenal by 8 clear goals.
And of course all others will have to do better than us.

Bowery has played himself onto the plane to Brazil after today.

Ace.
Specially as he scored as well. Head and shoulders above Carroll and Lambert.

When you aren't listed on the relegation odds site then restless nights are over, and we aren't. Norwich are now 1/100 to go down. Should I wake up in the night I'm not sure what I will get to worry about.

... I'm still not certain what formation we started out with but we got the shock (lucky)goal...
I understand 'shock' but why was the first goal lucky? Although Albie fresh-aired the first shot-opportunity it was well-worked and well taken.

And, the starting formation was 3-5-2 as far as I could see.

it did look a foul on their player when Gabby initially lost the ball. Then the miskick but with contact on it to keep it close enough for the prod to Westwood. I'm glad it fell to him though as he was the one player on the pitch I have confidence with to stroke it in from 20 yards into the corner at the time. (Delph would have been on the wrong foot.)

As for the starting formation. It looked like three at the back with two wingbacks but it was Marc who I couldn't place. It almost looked more like 3-4-3 or Marc playing behind the two strikers. It definitely caused us to struggle upto the goal and just after as Lowton was left facing two most times with Marc no where to be seen. Then we seemed to almost go 4-4-2 towards the end of the half with Albie on the wing and we got our two deserved goals and didn't really have a worry until we settled and allowed them to come onto us more.

It was 532 or more like 5212 initially, then 541 at the end. Alby was indeed wasted in central midfield, but eventually the coaches woke up and pushed him to right & later left. But, he was always playing narrow, which is bonkers given what we know he can do wide right. Ironically, Bowery in the left channel was superb to cross for Andi's glancing header goal in first half injury time.

It was a nice gesture for Villa to wish Hull supporters best of luck  for the FA cup final and most of the crowd joining in by clapping. I think they appreciated it.

Thank Fcuk for that!

Move for first goal clearly rehearsed at BH all week long! ;-)

Heart sank when I saw Bowery coming on, but massive credit to him, he played a blinder and had the Hull defence working hard to contain him; setting up the 2nd goal was a massive boost just before half time!

Hull weren't shit...we worked hard at being better and took our chances. On the ball, Hull still looked better, more accomplished players. We outplayed them with work-rate today, my only perceived weak link being Lowton and perhaps Albrighton - everyone else put in a good shift/performance for a change.
Looking forward to going to Man City game on Wed and the party at Spuds next Sunday.
Well done today Villa, and the Holte End, you were fu**in' brilliant!

Blimey who knew Bowery was a decent player (my guess is Cowans sorted him out).

MOTM performance - Finally someone ran into the channels to collect a ball from one of the backs. Lowton gets fair bit of stick but it you look at his options everytime we move the ball across the back its usually 2-3 opposition players and no-one else. Today Bowery showed for him (and for Bertrand too) and turned defence into attack.

So thats (almost) it for another season of pain but ending on a relative high. Lets get the 2nd string and kids on for city and spuds and see how they perform - I think Bowery with robinson, tonev and albrighton might be quite a handful

Woke up at 1am to catch the 2nd half. Thought we looked as comfortable as we've looked all season.

Feel like a massive weight has been lifted from my shoulders.

The bliss that has become Villa securing safety and a few months off without all this worry looks to have arrived.

Please sort it out though Villa FFS!

Well done to the fans for putting up with our awful football for most of the season and well done to the players today who showed up and did the job required against a poor Hull team. Well done to Ian Taylor for being a legend.

Big big changes and improvements needed over the summer. I'm not 100% in the Lerner/Lambert out camp because I do think Lambert can spot potential in a player. Having said that if we don't sign some decent 1st team (not squad / completely unproven) players over the summer we can look forward to another season scrabbling around the bottom half.

I would imagine it's been said before that Weimann & Bowery looked OK when played in their real positions.  We've not seen much of Bowery in his true light, but on today's evidence he may be worth persevering with as a speedy option.  Just keep him away from our own 6 yard box.

I thought the message and the Villa fans response was class and it resulted in them applauding us.
