It was a nice gesture for Villa to wish Hull supporters best of luck  for the FA cup final and most of the crowd joining in by clapping. I think they appreciated it.

What was that about?

A message came up on the screens in the ground, and the faithful were favourably disposed towards the sentiment.

Pretty classy I thought. To be fair  to the Lerner era, we have normally acted with a lot of class.

That was also the first time I've stood on the Holte for ninety minutes in decades.

Lerner era, Ellis era, every era. Instinctively doing the right thing since 1874.

Me and the boy lasted the first half.

I took to the Malaga gave pre-season and we only lasted one half, so so far in 90 minutes he's seen us score six times.

He's coming more next season.

What a massive relief and the first league home win me and my lad have seen since August 2011, ouch, very pleased with the performance, thought we were very well organised and very committed to the cause, lot of players stepped up to the plate today and well done Jordan Bowery, no more of this agony Villa, please sort things out.

One negative today. I'm pretty sure I heard a drum. We'll have less of that at VP thank you very much!

Yes pleased County stayed up too.

And I didn't give a shit what happened to Blues. They will always be inferior to Villa. Always.

Only just back as BC54 VFC decided to break down in Holford Road after the game so it, and its three occupants, had to be recovered to Shrewsbury by Mansfields - very efficient.

Great to hear the Holte End in fine voice this afternoon, and congratulations to Paul Lambert for correctly guessing this afternoon's attendance, although that does suggest he spends most of his time at Bodymoor Heath logged into the Villa website checking on ticket sales.

Really pleased for Weimann and Bowery today; just shows what can be achieved when players are played in their correct positions. Worth noting that JB also has a good game when he played in a central position in the Stoke away game last season.

Good to see Dave Woodhall standing on the corner one last time today; many thanks to you and your merry band of sellers for braving the elements over the years. Thanks for the introduction to Mac today, Dave.

An added bonus of today's victory is the conspicuous absence of richard moore from this thread this evening. ;)

Feel for Bristol Rovers, down on GD and hit the crossbar 3 times. Sometimes it just isn't going to be your day. Unless you are small heath, then it just isn't your century.

Me too. And Hull's goal was offside! First I knew of that, despite being at VP.

There did seem to be a drum in L1
