So no sale yet, manager appointed after sale and no throwing rotten fruit at the players after the game...huh

This latest statement is a plea to the supportes not to protest.  We are doing what we can, so please play nicely.  Tell you what Steve, get the wankers on the pitch to give their all, try to win the game against fellow relegation candidates and you know what, the fans might just be on your side!!  Tell Mr Black to pick a proper side for starters, that might help.

I guess, Mr Hollis may also be asking that we don't make dicks of ourselves as this might put the potential buyers off?  Just to offer some sense of balance.

Aston Villa Football Club can confirm Chairman Steve Hollis remains in active negotiations over the sale of the Club.

Chairman Steve Hollis said: "We are in very constructive negotiations which could lead to the sale of the Club to a new Owner.

"There has been no shortage of parties who would like to own Aston Villa but our negotiations are now with those parties that we believe will have the passion and ambition to return the Club to winning the highest honours in European football.

"The appointment of the manager is at this time inextricably linked to the current negotiations."

The Club has consulted with supporter representatives over the annual lap of appreciation and understand in the current circumstances that would not be appropriate.

Throughout a bitterly disappointing campaign our supporters have been the one positive and the Club would like to thank them all for their tremendous support.

I want to interpret this as people who have the funds and expertise to compete at the very top.

Is it just flannel from Mr. Hollis? I so hope not.

I don't buy this idea that it is all a con to sell season tickets or stop protests.

Firstly, Steve Hollis seems to be a professional man of integrity and there is nothing about him or his track record that suggests he would be party to deliberate lies.

Secondly, season ticket revenue is a fairly piddling part of a club's income stream these days.

Thirdly, whilst I admire the protest organisers for standing up and being counted I doubt the club are quaking in their boots at a short "march" and a mass release of balloons after 74 minutes.

It is becoming an increasingly elaborate lie if it is all a ruse to sell season tickets.

I don't see much point in any more protests.  They are trying to sell the club.  The players know they are ******.  Why waste the energy on more protests?

The sceptic in me thinks it's purely to quell the protest tomorrow.

Why would they need to do that? It's hardly shaping up to be the first day at the Somme.

what a tasteless & tactless analogy ; of course it isn't, as a protest at VP won't result in 1m people being killed or maimed.

So, after years of whingeing that the club doesn't communicate, when they do it's just flannel and a ruse.

Gosh.

It's the frustration that Pisses everyone off. The frustration of a truly shot season. .the frustration that we can't be 100% sure we will have new owners soon..the frustration of no manager and the frustration of just being in limbo while we are dying on our arses in the pitch.

I think there may have been a classic bit of subliminal auto suggestion there.  The eye catches the name of Mons triggering subconscious connections with WW1 and the ever thoughtful Richard allows Somme to surface.
