This is a happy birthday thread to a 90 yr old - not to drag up the past.

I look forward to your comments on 21 February, when cuddly old Robert Mugabe is also 90.

That's a pretty big leap there, 1 of them is responsible for the deaths of a hell of a lot of people who it was his duty to protect, the other was a bit tight with the purse strings.

Happy Birthday Doug!

Wrong analogy Dave...and we expect more of you as one of the more intelligent posters!

An apology would be nice.

No, the massive leap is to highlight one person's past and ignore another person's to suit.

And personally, I haven't commented about the person in the thread title.

Really it isn't, 1 person has a past that has caused genuine pain and suffering on millions of people in his country, the other pissed off a bunch of football fans by not spending a bit more money and by breaking up a European cup winning squad because he wasn't part of the achievement.  You really can't compare them and by doing so you are commenting on the person in the thread title, even if not directly.

I thought the past didn't matter a minute or so ago?

Happy Birthday and thanks for destroying the Champions of Europe

Poor taste .
Many of us wish him less and like to remind people. As for bad taste-he ain't died or anything.

Upgraded to very poor taste. What is the point of holding grudges? It doesn't change anything.

Happy birthday Doug.
Its not a grudge Liz-just not reforming history-there is a difference. Maybe Doug can become the new Mandela.
