I wouldn't have any issue with Delph leaving if he hadn't come out with that loyalty bullshit in January. He really must have no conscience whatsoever. Certain players have been giving football a bad name for years now but the actions of Delph, and even worse, Raheem Sterling are a new low.

Again, if he had no conscience whatsoever, he could just have left on a free.

Is it impossible that he changed his mind?

If it was about him changing his mind, he wouldn't have had the release clause so low in the first place.

Why on earth would Villa have agreed to a release clause less than half his value, otherwise? It was clearly a "I won't leave for nothing, but I am going to leave" situation, or it wouldn't be in there.

That's the bit that jars. Not him leaving. I don't blame him, I would have left before now were I him.

It is the big deal the club made about it, that he made about it, when all parties knew the real situation was very different.

That video, ffs.

I can put up with players coming and going, that's what they do, but I honestly think the club have treated us like absolute mugs this time.

He'll just be another Scott Sinclair when he was there, cherry picked as best player from another team to just sit on the bench and play the odd cup game. See Santa Cruz and Jack Rodwell also

In fact, if they haven't knowingly treated us like mugs, then it is because they didn't see this coming. Which is as bad, pretty much, and is probably more likely, given they were dim enough to have him all over the kit campaign.

Whilst nothing really surprises us in football that is bollox. Not blaming club at all as if players believe it is time to go then always difficult to change the heart. But this really hurts, do you know what I mean?

But the PR that the club came out with even though they knew he was likely to be gone in a matter of months has made them look utterly foolish again.  Fox owes it to us to give us an explanation.

It's what we were chewing on the other day. His agent would have been on the phone less than 30 seconds after the ink dried securing this move. That's why they did it and everyone knew it was going to happen. Everyone except us that is.

I can understand the club not wanting to say it, but I can't understand Delph holding court like he was something fucking special for his loyalty.

The club seems to revel in finding fresh and innovative ways to humiliate us. You have to admire their creativity.

Don't disagree LTA with your sentiments but did the club really know he was off?  As stated in a post just now though this really jar's. The whole captain armband thing for the new kit just ridiculous but he will have to live with that not us; We will go on...

I've never been angry at a footballer leaving our club before but this has really narked me. I got duped. Done like a kipper. Cheers for making a cynical prick even more cynical. You prick. Like others have said I have zero issue with him leaving, but you can't say what he said knowing he had that clause. Footballers sign new contracts all the time and you never see something like what Delph did. Which is why I disagree with the 'what did you expect him to say?' argument. Not much Fabian. Not much.

The club knew he'd be off in the summer yet they still produced that video in January and all the hype that surrounded his new contract, and they knew he was plotting his escape when they pushed him to the front of the new shirt launch poster.
It just stinks.

The whole thing is a real kick in the nads.
It confirms for Me how the club hold the fans in contempt.
We are literally an annoyance , a distraction and mean fuck all to the club.
I need to hold my words beyond this as I'm very angry at moment.

I agree it is hard to take after the long haul shite.

However, he could have gone for sod all in the summer so while I think his performance v Burnley was a disgrace in the way he was throwing his arms everywhere and to the dugout, I am pleased we get 8M. I read someones comment about Milner earlier, I agree he is not in his class yet and James never got to shpw how good he was in centre midfield. He will do that I reckon

I'm finding it hard to understand the anger towards Delph. Do you think it was his idea to come out with those comments? I'm angry towards the club for letting his contract run down, agreeing to an 8m release clause (although they may not have had a choice, we don't know), making and releasing that video, the kit promos that were released only a few days ago. I'd love an explanation for those things.

So basically, everything the club does is wrong, and everyone who shits on them is fine.

Well, no, but the club should be taking more than their fair share of the blame for this. I'd really like to hate Delph right now, but I can't as I feel he's not the main culprit.

I so respect you, but what effect do you think would have happened if he had gone on that screen and said I am f~~~~~g off? Not good on the club now and have to say I am disappointed in the player, the long haul comment grates, but hey, is he better than Aston Villa Football Club?
