The debacle at Southampton is now making more sense

what are you on about?
Eh ? Wake up , smell the coffee

yes, I am sure we got battered because they all wanted to leave. So why didn't they pack up before then? What does it matter to them if we stayed up or not or made the cup final even if they wanted to go? How about the times when Arsenal, Liverpool, Man U, Spurs have all been spanked for 5 or 6 goals in the past couple go seasons? Was it an indication their players all wanted to leave too?

The club knew he'd be off in the summer yet they still produced that video in January and all the hype that surrounded his new contract, and they knew he was plotting his escape when they pushed him to the front of the new shirt launch poster.
It just stinks.

I so respect you, but what effect do you think would have happened if he had gone on that screen and said I am f~~~~~g off? Not good on the club now and have to say I am disappointed in the player, the long haul comment grates, but hey, is he better than Aston Villa Football Club?

Not a chance is he better than the club but that's not the point. The fans were hoodwinked into thinking we had a captain who was loyal and here for the long haul and they couldn't wait to bullshit the fans into thinking so. Now just a few months later he's off and it looks like they knew it all along.
As I said, it bloody stinks. The people who run our club haven't got a clue.

So would you have preferred  something along the lines of : I have signed a new contract but it means feck all. I don't give a toss how the rest of the season goes. I am sure I will get a European club.

I agree with you, I think the publicity thing is a joke, Delph is getting a lot of stick and have to say if I was a wealthy man I would not have said the shite he did

Just be honest. Say I have signed a new deal to ensure that when I leave in the future the club recoup what they paid for me as I don't feel it is morally correct to leave for nothing. I will continue to give my all for the club while I remain a Villa player and enjoy playing for the club.

Lets think back to when you want him to be honest, I accept it is total BS and am surprised Delph allowed it as seems a down to earth lad. I don't think he gave his all v Burnley, he was waving his arms about for no reason and said it to family and friends. Thing is, I think he can thrive at Villa but feck off if you want, Aston Villa will always be bigger than anyone

What a load of fucking shite. They all decided that between 9th May (which was the day we beat West Ham, making it 4 wins in 5, and the defeat was Citeh when we outplayed them) and 16th May that they all wanted to leave and couldn't be arsed? Not even Dan would come up with a theory that mental.

It is easier for your heads to drop after a couple of goals going in knowing 1. you are likely safe now, and 2. you are likely to be off pretty soon.

Why didn't they collapse against Everton, Man City, Liverpool as well? Maybe the Illuminati got involved the last 3 games?

I really admire your happy spin on everything but you've been pretty much wrong on everything for a long while.
The last 3 games of the season - Southampton burnley and arsenal were diabolical , the final itself was the most one sided final in living memory . Keep burying your head in the sand if you wish but the facts are there for all to see.

The only fact is we lost 3 games, the rest is just a mental theory that half the team couldn't be arsed as they had no professional pride and little interest in winning a trophy.

Teams down the bottom of the league often lose, sometimes badly. It's why they are down the bottom of the league. Where they all wanting to leave when they lost 5-0 to Arsenal a few months earlier, or is just that Arsenal are a much better side than us?

The most rational explanation is that we ran out steam, i.e. mental and physical energy. Sherwood came in and instigated the Pulis method of high intensity training involving full practice matches. He told players that he would not criticise them for making mistakes as long as they gave it everything. He said Gabby was on on fire in training and Delph was the best midfielder in the league. It worked; we survived. Then we ran out of steam.
