I don't agree with people saying he won't play either. He's better than both Fernando/inho and they are currently his only competition in that area.

Also even if he did struggle, since when did not playing regularly with your club team affect your international chances under Roy? He's the worst I've ever seen for it once you're in.

Is he though, Fernandinho struggled last season but was excellent the season before in my opinon. Toure is still there, and I still think City will buy Pogba or the like for big money.

The club knew he'd be off in the summer yet they still produced that video in January and all the hype that surrounded his new contract, and they knew he was plotting his escape when they pushed him to the front of the new shirt launch poster.
It just stinks.

I so respect you, but what effect do you think would have happened if he had gone on that screen and said I am f~~~~~g off? Not good on the club now and have to say I am disappointed in the player, the long haul comment grates, but hey, is he better than Aston Villa Football Club?

Not a chance is he better than the club but that's not the point. The fans were hoodwinked into thinking we had a captain who was loyal and here for the long haul and they couldn't wait to bullshit the fans into thinking so. Now just a few months later he's off and it looks like they knew it all along.
As I said, it bloody stinks. The people who run our club haven't got a clue.

I'm finding it hard to understand the anger towards Delph. Do you think it was his idea to come out with those comments? I'm angry towards the club for letting his contract run down, agreeing to an 8m release clause (although they may not have had a choice, we don't know), making and releasing that video, the kit promos that were released only a few days ago. I'd love an explanation for those things.

Pretty much my thoughts too.

I really can't blame anybody who leaves us for Man City now as we are on different planets, though I question how much game time he will get.

I never, ever believed a word of what he said a few months back and assumed those words were a fop to us fans, and the contract simply a means of getting a better fee for him. No way should his contract have been allowed to run down as it was, that was poor management.

So would you have preferred  something along the lines of : I have signed a new contract but it means feck all. I don't give a toss how the rest of the season goes. I am sure I will get a European club.

I agree with you, I think the publicity thing is a joke, Delph is getting a lot of stick and have to say if I was a wealthy man I would not have said the shite he did

Agree with that. And the cup final. Vlaar, Cleverley, Benteke, Given and Delph all thinking about their next moves.

Maybe, knowing about the cheap release clause, which says it all, either party, the club or the player, would have thought twice about engaging in the blatant triumphalism as seen in this video.

Seriously, how can anyone know about the 8m release clause, about his contractual situation, and be sufficiently fucking stupid to not only make this video, but to broadcast it at the game, to make a big deal in the press, and then to stick him in our shirt ads, pointing at this captain's badge?

I thought now Faulkner was gone, this sort of idiocy (and lest we forget, Delph's role is far from the extent of the idiocy re the kit campaign, see the whole slogan and hashtag thing too) was supposed to have stopped.

Oh, and they also tweeted the photo with him pointing at his armband alongside a plea to buy shirts at 5 this evening, after this story had broken. Brilliant.

Just be honest. Say I have signed a new deal to ensure that when I leave in the future the club recoup what they paid for me as I don't feel it is morally correct to leave for nothing. I will continue to give my all for the club while I remain a Villa player and enjoy playing for the club.

That video Paulie, I could not have sat and given that message in his shoes knowing that he will have insisted on an 8m release fee. It is just a complete piss take.

that's fine Ozz but then don't use these words when signing:

I am a loyal person
This is my club and I want to be here. That's why I am committing my future.
show the fans that we are looking to do big things here
I feel the up-and-coming years will be big

And the jewel in the crown

there was no way I was going to bail out. I am here for the long run
