people need to stop mentioning Curbishley too. There's a reason he's been out of the game for so long. And on top of everything he can't say Birmingham properly. Twat

Me. I'll do the job.

On Football Manager I'm 6th with Villa and have done it on a budget of £0.00

Sold most of the deadwood and have scouted Europe for talent.

£200.00 a week and I'm yours.

And somebody can have my season ticket, as long as they keep my client reff going.

I'm going home after work tonight to get on that game to make myslef feel better.  Still shellshocked and shaking.

6th? Shit that game is harder than the real thing!

Used to be great years ago - Buy Uwe Rosler/ Tommy Svindal Larsen/De La Cuesta etc and win every game about 8-0

Don't know if this has already been suggested but would anyone take OGS? Norweigan league finished now I think, so he might be more open to move. He has also been mentored by Fergie as a manager. He could be a breath of fresh air to this club maybe. Although I don't know why any up and coming manager would want to take up the reins of such a poorly run club in all honesty.

The Wally with the Brolly? Are you having a laugh?

No, I'm just trying to add to the debate.

I'm not saying that sacking Paul Lambert and hiring Steve McClaren (or Sven) is a good idea.

What I am saying is if we sack Paul Lambert, then what?

Most decent managers will look at the quality of the squad and wonder if taking the job will mean adding a relegation to their CV -- and thus say 'no, thanks'.

So what we are looking at are managers desperate for a job, or someone from a low level that can't say no if a Premier League club asks.

Picking someone from the latter category is a huge risk. Picking from the first category is too, because the managers are out of a job for a reason. Neither Sven nor Steve (the examples I mentioned) have been very impressive lately. Howver, they do have a history of being able to organise a defence and being pragmatic, which were the criterias I set out.

You could put just about any manager in charge right now and the team wouldn't get any worse, we've hit rock bottom. Lambert might go on to be a decent manager but I can't see it happening for him here, he looks as much in a rut as the rest of the club and he doesn't have one off those magnetic personalities that can lift a club.

That's what I think we need as a club now, a figurehead, someone to rally around who cares about the club as much as we do, someone who can pick the team up (and go again). Someone who can make us believe again. Right now we are an embaressment.

I'm with you on that. I do like Lambert but at what point do you stop saying "another few games" and take action?

The club definitely needs a personality. What we wouldn't do for the next BFR.... Shit, let's get the old one in.

Also worth reminding ourselves that if the Lambert experiment fails. Randy's not likely to go for another one in the Poyet/OGS/Zola mould.

I wouldn't suggest Adkins as others have said, he has an identical CV to Lambert.

If Randy does give Lambert the chop, he'll have to get someone with a track record of getting players on his side and getting them organised.

And no, I have no clue who that might be in the game today. I have to start looking at our ex-players/managers. I think if we keep getting worse in the next few games. I would actually consider that.

Whoever it is that takes over would have to be happy managing in the second tier because without player-recruits that is where I think we're heading.
Much as I applauded his appointment and his youth strategy, Lambert and the squad are like the walking dead at the moment and need a serious injection of experience.

I'm not too concerned about our manager not having a good understanding of the English language providing he has a good understanding of football. I would hope our next manager is foreign. I'm done with British managers.

I think we have three options. We either ride it out, as he assembled alot of this squad and see if he can get us over the finish line.

Or if we sack him - try and get a big name who can be an impact manager in the MON/Redknapp mould to get players to play above themselves. Alternatively give it to KMac as he knows a fair few of the squad and maybe they'll play for him.

If we sack him we may get more out of Warnock and Bent. That could be vital.

I think Hughes or Souness would be the best shouts, they seem to do OK over the short term and can make a side solid (I know Hughes has ballsed up when he's had money but he does the basics well).

We just need a Michael Laudrup type as manager. It will be too late to hire new manager and add new faces in 8 days. We just need new coaching staff to work with Lambert and invest in 3 players.

Going to sound boring and repetitive but POYET. Only issue is whether he sees us as bigger than Brighton, who still have a chance of replacing us next season.

Whoever he is, and whenever he is appointed, I'd like our next manager to be actively involved in the coaching side of management.  There's something to be said for the European model of Director of Football and Coach but I recognise it has almost never worked over here.  That's probably down to the conservatism inherent in English football but it's worth considering, particularly if you have an absent owner.  As well as setting the overall strategy, a DoF could act as a figurehead in Lerner's stead.

Pat Murphy says Lerner won't be sacking Lambert even if we are relegated
