After the experience of the last three managers we would be scraping the barrel when looking for our next manager. We really are good at turning decent managers into quivering wrecks - its a poisoned chalice

We will end up with someone like Gary Megson or Lennie Lawrence. That will be the extent of our pulling power.

Martinez dodged a couple of dambuster bombs when he turned us down / avoided us.

I can see Lambert being sacked after the transfer window is shut. That's how incompetent I see the board as being

He'll be used as a scapegoat for the boards shortcomings. I feel sorry for Lambert

Re Adkins - his record is very similar to lambert - successive promotions with an unfashionable team etc. Why would he be any better than lambert? Be another risky appointment we cant afford to make. This is a massive job now.

soton's football has looked so much better than ours.

I would not mind Poyet ,   not be against Zola , fine job at watford and I rate Nigel Pearson , he will be England manager one day .

Can't believe how many people are suggesting names on the basis they are "Villa legends"

We could maybe complete our transition into Newcastle of three years ago, then, just like when they appointed one of their legends. That worked out well, didn't it.

That always annoys me as well,  Just because a player played well for a club or put his heart and soul into a club doesnt mean he has any idea of how to manage a Club. In fact as you pointed out it often has the opposite effect.

Im surprised no one has mentioned Taylor or Collymore yet.....

I really have no idea what to say or think about the team or manager. Maybe I'm a Randy Lerner clone?

Having defended Lambert all season I can only say that I think he was very foolish to freeze Bent out. Whatever happened behind the scenes, he froze out the one genuine 'star' player we had. Benteke and Weimann have delivered the goods but the decision to so publicly drop and humiliate Bent is what could define Lambert's time at villa (if he doesn't last).

It was a huge call and it caused no end of publicity.

Got to be Zola for me, will work wonders with our kids and give us all the boost we need to get the confidence back!

Where on earth is the evidence that he will work wonders with the kids?  Bringing in Zola would not give me a boost - Lambert has achieved far more as a manager.

Getting rid of Lambert would be, in my opinion, sheer lunacy.  It sends out all the wrong messages about our club.  We need to keep calm, see the bigger picture and back our man.

According to the bookies Victor Chandler it looks like a 2 horse race, good value on Adkins though
