the tipping point may well have come now for Lambert, but if we replace him with RDM i would feel devastated, as bad as when we got TSM (well nearly)

if we make a change, fine, but all this anyone will do because he's bound to be better than Lambert is a load of bollocks, we need the right man not more of the same

i'd much rather Curbs than RDM

In reality I suspect PL won't be going anywhere.
However, if he did go, I would not touch Adkins as it would be PL scenario all over again.

A new manager might be able to coach players how to defend a corner.

Tony Pullis then ?

I can see Lambert being sacked after the transfer window is shut. That's how incompetent I see the board as being

I would stick with Lambert but it is getting harder and harder to defend him. I honestly don't care about Friday night but the Newcastle game is massive given both clubs positions and coming so soon after Wigan and Southampton. Unfortunately the times of SGT and BFR have come and gone. The likes of Adkins, Poyet, Zola and Di Canio would be gambles. Curbishley is a decent manager who has been held back by his lack of personality but has been out of the game for a while. In hindsight if we were going to make a change the best bet may have been Deano at the start of the transfer window.

Going through the candidates I don't think there is anybody that will really get us excited.

RDM - Meh. Did a decent enough job at the Boggies and obviously did well to win two cups with Chelski. Would probably organise us and make us harder to beat. Which is an improvement of some sorts.

Adkins - Not keen on him. Just similar CV to Lambert. Two successive promotions, no top-flight experience. No reason to suggest he wouldn't replicate PL and get found out here.

Hughes - Damaged alot of his credibility at QPR where he just bought any mercenary has-been he could find, none of whom could be arsed to play for him.  Did do well in previous jobs though.

Zola - Has project at Watford. Don't see him leaving any time soon.

Poyet - Doing good job at Brighton but I wouldn't say he is doing exceptionally well.

GT - Weren't far off relegation last time with him. Would he really do any better now?

Hughes for me. As long as he stopped buying mercenaries. Saying that he wouldn't be able to at Villa.

Can't believe how many people are suggesting names on the basis they are "Villa legends"

We could maybe complete our transition into Newcastle of three years ago, then, just like when they appointed one of their legends. That worked out well, didn't it.

After the experience of the last three managers we would be scraping the barrel when looking for our next manager. We really are good at turning decent managers into quivering wrecks - its a poisoned chalice
