The big difference between the team from a few years ago that beat Tranmere and Man Utd was that that team had character, desire, passion, belief and leadership. The current team has absolutely no leadership. Come to think of it, there is no leadership from the top of the club to the bottom.

Anyone who's concerned about being 'humiliated' at Wembley by Chelsea needs to get their head straight, it will be no where near as bad as going out to fucking fourth division Bradford

Exactly.  Its ridiculous.

Tricky one this.....would love to repeat the Tranmere game which was one of the best VP nights ever......but then I'd expect to play Chelsea in the final which instantly reminds me of the 2000 cup final which was a horrible day.

Or maybe a repeat of the 1994 League Cup Final?  Nobody expected us to win that one either.

I most certainly did. And back then we had the not inconsiderable advantage of some great players and - on his day - a great manager. Bring back Big Ron.

If Bradford can beat Arsenal and us, we can beat Chelsea or Swansea in a packed Wembley.  An absolute joke that you're scared to be in a final - it's what football is all about.

Hope springs eternal - hopefully we'll only let the one in. I'd feel lots better about the second leg if we got a left back, central defender and two midfielders.

Maybe you're right.  On the other hand, imagine what this forum would have been like the morning after the first leg at Tranmere.

Not a fucking prayer with this defence.  They're the worst back line I've ever seen in a Villa shirt.  There's no chance they'll keep a clean sheet in a pressure game like the second leg.

... we won't make it to Wembley!

Comparing the current team to that team has made me even more depressed than I was already. Ironically, two of the more unsung players from that team would be just what we need right now. If only we could stick an 'at their peak' Shaun Teale and Kevin Richardson into our team.

First goal is key. I cannot see their goal leading quite as charmed a night, nor our forwards being quite so profligate.

I think we’re capable of scoring four or five against them, I am just not convinced we will do it and have voted no.

For some reason I think we'll probably get to the final and stay up this season. I can't really explain why.

The pressure is on Bradford and they will crumble.
