Patels 50th Championship wkt of the summer.
Sussex appear to be just batting on lead now 251 but if were to declare now only be 46 overs for us to get them. Perhaps their logic being that they assume Durham will beat Yorkshire and that Sussex are playing Durham in their next game and banking on beating them

Bears side to make the trip to Trent Bridge this morning. A little lightweight on the batting with Porterfield left out again. Stef Piolet recalled from his loan spell at Sussex to make his first championship game in about 3 years:
Chopra, Westwood, Evans, Javid, Woakes, Piolet, Barker, Patel, McKay, Chambers & Gordon

A late change to Bears side that was announced yesterday - they have taken a look at the wicket this morning and decided to leave Recardo Gordon out and bring Darren Maddy in to the side.
Notts won toss and put Bears in.
Chopra just got first runs of the day.
4-0

I have just selected a side from players who are injured or just not available through international duty and you can see right away why our defence of the title has been a struggle:
Porterfield, Trott, Bell, Troughton, Coleman, Ambrose, Clarke, Milnes, Wright, Rankin & Hannon - Dalby no spinner in that side but you could select either Metters or Best as a spin option.
Just having 4 or 5 of these being available would have been of great benefit.

Rankin just got his 2nd wkt in a rather unfortunate way....Ed Joyce stepped on his wkt for 1 (10) 36-2 8 overs Rankin 2-19 from 4

Bears 20-0 Chopra 15 Westwood 4
