I went in the Kop at b-lose for Joe Gallagher's testemonial.

I didn't celebrate a goal or anything but I was not exactly unknown to b-lose hooligans so I got recognised.

I got battered.

Are you an old school hooligan of ill repute Percy ?

IFWaters: I'm an anarcho-syndicalist, so you didn't really achieve political balance.

You cousin-fucking coke-snorting chinless alien*.

*Joke.

Ha ha ha you rascal.

I mistook you for Ed Balls. The fat ******.

Arnie: I'm an old-school hooligan of not much repute at all sadly. Mostly I just held the coats and stood at the back. But I know 'em all. If the OB could see who I get texts off on derby day, they'd think I was organising everything.

IF: I'm not fat, but you're not a million miles away with the rest.

I've sat in among away fans plenty of times and you just have to sit on your hands and be pretty discreet. Just common sense really.

If you are lucky you can even have a wee chat if not surrounded by Neanderthals. Amazingly I managed this at Upton Park the year they were rebuilding the away end (1994) and only gave us 300 tickets in the seats. And the two occasions I have seen us win at Stamford Bridge have both been behind enemy lines. Frustrating, but better than being with the Villa fans and losing.

Reminds me of the 80's when often on about 10-15 mins you'd see a pocket of Fila/Tacchini clad away fans spring out of a home area and get an OB escort around the pitch into the away end.

Not that i condole voilence,

I have never, ever condoled voilence.

Voilence is quite upset about that, actually.

Don't pick on him - he's just typing in Brummie.

Anyway, I can remember a couple of Man U fans (fella and his lad) sitting next to me in the Upper Holte years ago for a midweek cup match.  He was quite obviously not a regular at Villa Park but to be fair to him he kept quiet, even as we went 2-0 up at half time.

It was at this point I was unbelievably tempted to turn to him and say, 'Never mind, there's always next year' but thankfully I didn't.  They brought Van Nistelrooy on at half time, he scored twice, and they won 3-2.  The fella looked so smug when he left.

Pedant alert: that was on a Sunday, Adam. I remember going in my local after, and all the noses were loving it. One said 'Season over, you won't get a crowd over 25,000 for the rest of the season'. I bet him twenty quid we wouldn't get one under 30k, and I won.

When I took the money off him, I said 'Don't EVER get us mixed up with your shitty little tin-pot club again'.

It was a night/evening game though?  I can cope with my memory playing tricks on me when it comes to days of the week.  When I start forgetting whether it was daylight or not it's time for someone to put me down.

I sat in the home end at WHL when we had that dreadful outing under TSM...possibly the most depressing thing I've ever done.

The reverse of the thread title - I went to a match at OldT quite a long time ago (I was a student in Mancland) with Caroline, an old school friend who was up for the weekend to take in the Villa game and somebody playing at the Free Trade Hall (could have been Deep Purple).  Anyway, as the 'hostess' as it were, I was in charge of getting the tickets and it was dead easy, I just rang up, they asked me my address and I got them.
Then when we turned up in our Villa scarves, we found our seats were right in the middle of the Stretford End.

The fans around us were quite good, really, very, very welcoming to a couple of 19-year-old female villa fans, all things considered.  It was probably just as well that they won in the end.  But there was that moment when the Villa scored!
At that moment, 2 girls leapt up in the middle of the SEnd and shouted, 'YES!'  Then we remembered where we were.

Adam: No need to worry, it was a 6.15 kick off. Someone told me the details on here the other day when I got the year wrong! :\

Now, having re-assured you about your memory, I'm afraid I have to inform you that I think at least one, if not both, of our goals was in the second half.

Absolutely hate these **stards. After last season's game I was stood under the revolving TV behind the North Stand and one of them came up to us as if he Knew us stating we must hate them as they always win here. He was off as soon as he arrived dancing round taking the piss. As a 58 year old grandad I considered an arrestable offence but my son and my sister told me the error I might have made.So typical of the detestable worst by  a mile away fans we ever have to suffer. I would give my right bollock to beat them on Saturday !
