Class finishing earnt the win tonight. Lambert nearly cost us by refusing to bring on fresh legs. Another limp, spineless display by Ireland, don't want to see the overpaid, burnt out player in a villa shirt again. The last minute winner was even sweeter seeing that prick Di Canio acting up on the pitch after the whistle. God I was glad it didn't go into extra time, it was fukin freezing.

Ireland set-up the first and was lively throughout according to 5Live.

He was fukin terrible. He also shirked countless tackles.

Are you serious?

Ireland set up the first AND played a lovely through ball to Gabby for the second.

This shirking tackles nonsense is the same sort of thing we used to hear about Downing, even when he was consistently our best player.
Downing was utter gash.Ask any Liverpool fan and they will say the same.

I was. He was involved in two goals and looked the one class performer in our midfield.

Ireland the one class performer in our midfield? Fuck me Jesus

You and me know yet again we were a shambles in midfield, with the manager shitting himself on the sidelines. Ireland was more bothered about keeping his glow in the dark cast clean.

Yep he played well apparently, but some people do seem to have an agenda against him.

Indeed they do. Some real vitriol directed at him from a couple of Villa fans when he went off; all to do with his wages and flash cars. No comments on how he'd played (other than "you're effing s**t ireland, eff off") because, fact is, he was excellent last night. Some great runs down the channels, always looking for the ball and some really intelligent passing picking out the likes of Gabby and Benteke without even having to look up. It's also worth noting that in the first half, when under the cosh, he was fighting for every ball and acting as a good outlet going forward. Admittedly he tired a little in the second half but that's to be expected. On the whole a great performance from him and he simply has to play.

Stephen Ireland is everything that is wrong with Aston Villa. Talk me through his missed and bottled challenges? When did he fight in the first half?

Ireland was one of our best players last night. Ok, so he didn't win too many 50/50 tackles, so what? Vlaar didn't set up 2 goals and he won all his tackles, they both had reasonable games though

Ireland has his job and Vlaar has his.

I don't think I even want Petrov to play for us competitively again, I just want to see him pull through this terrible illness and live out the rest of his life peacefully; away from the public eye. I have this image of his testimonial against Celtic in front of a Villa Park packed to the rafters within the next few years and I'd like to believe that will be it.

Just reading that has brought tears to my eyes.

I hope that Exeter, Torquay, and the two Bristol clubs are not in the last 8 as I really don't fancy another midnight trip around the Worcestershire countryside.

After a superb performance last night Ireland just has to start in the midfield every Premier match; I suspect one or two posters who thought otherwise couldn't handle their pre-match Aldi beer. At one stage I'd forgotten that KEA was even on the pitch.

listening to various radio stations this morning and some of them didnt even mention our win yet before the match we were featured heavilly with lots of talk about us going out, they dont like us do they?

There was a giantkilling at Wigan and a 7-5 at Reading, I don't think our win over Swindon was that high on any agenda really.

It was a cold night at Swindon. Their crowd were pretty good though , that is a noisy place..
Ireland was great , I thought he had a great game. I think the big issue with Ireland is all in perception.  He looks like a very intelligent footballer and studies the move before making the pass etc. I think this then makes him look a little pedestrian in his style. He doesn't make bursting lightning runs, he doesn't look like he's breaking into a sweat and this,  people think means he isn't trying. I think people should realise what is going on . We can't all be blood and thunder and run around like headless chicken.  He just looks a little too calm at times and appears sometimes sloppy, but this I am sure is just his style. He was certainly having a great game on Tuesday.
Swindon had nothing to lose and ran at us from the kick off. They may as well lose 10 nil as 2 nil so why not go for it. When Villa needed it they turned up the wick. we could have had 2 or 3 in the last 10 mins, never in doubt!
Glad it's over though.
Going to the County ground really did take me back to the great days of the early 70's though!  there were so many grounds like that then.! If things don't improve we could be back at placers like that soon!
Keep the faith!
