@MatKendrick: I personally think Joleon Lescott would be a very good addition for Villa, but right now I can't see #avfc or #mcfc making it happen

Maybe worth revisiting in the summer if we can't pull off a deal this month.

We need someone now, so can't wait until the summer, IMO.

Maybe a loan deal to tide us over for the rest of the season ? Although I'm sure lambert will have other defensive options to target .

Would love it if could sign Lescott. If we can't get him in January then maybe summer if available.

Lescott would be perfect for Villa. Let's hope Mancini is bluffing.

I don't think he's bluffing regarding being short of defensive cover but of course he has the money at his disposal to go out and buy more defenders , which may free up lescotts  departure but will we be prepared to wait and see or look elsewhere?

Martin Jol says Fulham are not the premiership club in talks with Vegard Forren. Makes it a one in 19 chance of being us then.

Mind you, it's unlikely Sunderland are in for him either, O'Neill shies away from anyone with a Forren-sounding name.

NORWAY international Vegard Forren could soon be on his way to the Premier League, after his club confirmed they are in "final talks" over a transfer.

The 24-year-old has been heavily-linked with a January move to both Manchester United and Everton.

And the Molde star did not travel to South Africa with his international team-mates, ahead of his country's friendly clash with the 2010 World Cup hosts next week.

"Vegard did not travel because we are in final talks with a club," said Molde boss and former United striker Ole Gunnar Solskjær.

"The possibility exists that Vergard must travel for a medical and to negotiate a contract."

But Solskjær gave away no clues as to Forren's imminent destination.

"Nothing is finalised yet, so I will not comment on the club any closer now. But it is very close to happening."

Forren has previously said he is keen to move to either Germany or England.

He rejected an offer from Belgian side FC Bruges in December 2011.

It's way too early in the month for MON to enter the market. He might enter it on the 31st January!

The fact that we don't know Forren's destination at least rules out 1 or 2 clubs, for example QPR cause old Droopy would have at least denied they were going to sign him if not that he'd never heard of him, can't see it being City as he won't be on £100k+ a week, he's not British which rules out Sunderland and probably Liverpool, so if it's not Fulham then it's more like 1 in 15...

Given Jenas' luck with injuries he probably hit the same rocks in the lifeboat as well.

Jenas = Legion

i think anyone who seriously thinks Joleon Lescott will agree to come to us needs to take a long hard look in the mirror.  If one centre half gets injured at Man City he finds himself involved in yet another title race, who's going to swap that for a relegation battle at a club who have done nothing but slate him with quite an evil song every time he's played against us during his career?

He runs his own Clothing range with fellow footballer and friend Jordan Stewart, which is run from Manchester, another reason not to come.

I'm sorry, but the Dempsey deal in the summer was more realistic than this.  BUT - I hope i'm wrong.
