I'd love Lescott to come.

Although he is responsible for my Grandad dropping the 'C' bomb for the first time in his life a few years ago when he thought he had equalised in the last minute in THAT game at Goodison. What happened next, Legion?

DM reckons today we have 6m(!) to spend. Targets

Strikers: Graham (Swansea), Austin (Burnley
Midfield Parker, Jenas (Tottenham) Pritchard (charlton) Murphy (Crewe), Loe (Osasuna) Kvist (Stutgart), Karaboue (Nancy)
Defence: Ba (Porto

Hmmmmm...........

I think Jenas' boat may have sailed, and knowing him it would have struck the rocks and sank.

Given Jenas' luck with injuries he probably hit the same rocks in the lifeboat as well.

I think Forren is in talks with a club over a  £4m deal, believed to be Fulham.

Its funny how Fulham have something to do with so many rumours. It always used to be Forest, Newcastle and Spurs.

I'd still like to know why Redknapp is allowed to say 'Caaannnnt' in his press conferences.
They never bleep it out.

Makes me laugh how reporters read a long list of targets to him and there never seems to be one he says he doesn't like - 'triffic player , yeh I like him a lot'

A centre half partnership of Vlaar and Lescott would allow Clark and Baker to develop properly. It provides proper transition in that Vlaar, being a couple of years younger could continue as Lescott fades and allows his successor to continue with Vlaar. Either way, he'd be a very solid addition and especially at PL level. Not convinced about him as an international but quite frankly I don't really rate any of England's players against the top nations. He'd provide leadership, inspiration and experience, three components that we are missing right now. As for Keane, he's a no brainer to me. For a few weeks he'd give us exactly what he gave last year. A spark, and something dynamic even if he came off the bench. He's a good role model for the kids and he's always capable of scoring goals.

More than anything we just need to settle things down and hopefully by Jan 31st we've got some experience in, and some other bodies back. It will take pressure of the kids and allow them to breathe as opposed to what must feel like them going a 100 mph right now. We'll be fine with the right additions this window.

Lescott for me would be a decent addition and replacement for Dunne for a couple of seasons

Scotty Parker would also be a good addition in midfield, even if only on loan until the end of the season - can see him going to QPR tho

Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini has ruled out selling England defender Joleon Lescott during the January transfer window.

Lescott has been linked with a move after being limited to just seven Premier League starts for the defending champions this season.

The 30-year-old has slipped to fourth choice under Mancini, behind Vincent Kompany, Matija Nastasic and Kolo Toure despite being a regular in the England squad.

There have been reports Lescott's former club Everton, who reluctantly sold the player to City for £22 million in August 2009, would be interested in re-signing him when the window opens on New Year's Day.

But Mancini appeared to rule out Lescott leaving after claiming he could not afford to sell any players in January because of injuries and the absence of three players at the African Cup of Nations.

Ivory Coast trio Kolo Toure, his brother Yaya and Abdul Razak are due to leave for the tournament, which begins in South Africa on January, 19 after City's home game with Stoke on Tuesday.

In addition, the likes of defenders Maicon and Micah Richards remain sidelined along with midfielder Jack Rodwell.

And despite having one of the biggest and most expensive Premier League squads at his disposal, Mancini claims he cannot afford to allow Lescott, or anyone else, leave before the end of the season.

"We can't sell players. We don't have enough players to play if we sell players," said Mancini at a press conference in Manchester on Monday.

I remember H&V crashing when Weimann scored his second against Norwich in the quarter finals. Good times! :)

"We can't sell players. We don't have enough players to play if we sell players,"

Didn't he have a pop at not being able to bring in enough during the summer?  Perhaps the money men there want Lescott off the books and this is a message to them in terms of replacing whoever may go in Jan?

@MatKendrick: I personally think Joleon Lescott would be a very good addition for Villa, but right now I can't see #avfc or #mcfc making it happen

Maybe worth revisiting in the summer if we can't pull off a deal this month.
